local election links
[edit]Hello @Number 57:. Sorry to bother you with this notification, but I'm having a disagreement with @KittenKlub: here. What is your opinion on the presence of a distinct local election line on the template? In my opinion, they should be kept, with maybe the links going to the general election page, although I'm somewhat against it considering we don't mention them at all on that page. But the line should be on the template either way, imo. Cordially.--Aréat (talk) 16:33, 21 July 2020 (UTC)
- Just move the talk elsewhere, so that edit war warning isn't obvious and you can game the system with your buddy. From your talk page:
- Today, more than 383,000 voters in Suriname go to the polls. The Constitution enshrines the right of every citizen to elect elected representatives every five years. In total, Suriname today votes for 934 representatives: 51 assembly members, 765 resort councilors and 118 district councilors. The 51 members of the National Assembly (DNA) elect the president and vice president within a month of their installation.
- It is ONE election and not TWO seperate elections. You don't see the :nl mentioning it either on their pages, because there is only ONE 2020 election. KittenKlub (talk) 16:37, 21 July 2020 (UTC)
- In cases where national and local elections are held on the same day, we usually have separate lines on these templates for them – for example {{Salvadoran elections}} or {{Guyanese elections}}.
- As for the "buddy" comment, have you already forgotten that Aréat agreed with you during this disagreement? The ANI threat is also ridiculous. Number 57 16:43, 21 July 2020 (UTC)
- But it is not two elections. It's one election which determines all seats. Every country does it differently, and this is a small nation, but if you look at the Dutch pages, you'll notice that there was just election even before 1949 when it was only a select group who could vote. And the general page does refer to the resorts as well, because of those inconsistencies in two resorts. In that case, the assembly were validated, because it couldn't make a difference, however the resort votes need to be recounted.
- About ANI: I call what you are doing is gaming the system. Remember that vandal, he was reverting you all over the place and used your own tactics against you.

- So do voters only cast one vote to determine the makeup of both the national legislature and the makeup of local councils, or are they separate ballot papers used on the same day? Number 57 16:52, 21 July 2020 (UTC)

This PDF shows the process. There's one vote for the National Assembly, and you have multiple choices for the Resorts. http://www.verkiezingen.sr/storage/app/media/Verkiezingskrant/Verkiezingskrant_editie21.pdf

- I honestly don't understand such a level of hostility against me in your comments here as well as on my talk page, KittenKlub. Can't recall having had a dispute with you before. I called for Number 57 as I know from past discussions he's very implied in these templates. I think I will leave this discussion if that can easen it up. Cordially.--Aréat (talk) 17:05, 21 July 2020 (UTC)
- That going to 3RR and just continuing after I left a message didn't have anything to do with it. And once again my edit was reverted by your buddy, and I have to proof that I am right? You have to proof your statement about needing two lines. KittenKlub (talk) 17:18, 21 July 2020 (UTC)
And of course there won't be any answers, because the clique has won again. Good luck with those ridiculous red links to an election which does not exist.KittenKlub (talk) 17:30, 21 July 2020 (UTC)
- I didn't went to 3RR. Now, you've given sources indicating 1) there is 765 resort councilors and 118 district councilors that were elected and 2) they were elected on a different ballot than the 51 assembly members. How is that not a different election that only happen to be held on the same day as the other, then? Please calm down and explain to us what make these different votes to different candidates for different seats the same election. It can very well be only one, but I simply don't understand why.--Aréat (talk) 17:38, 21 July 2020 (UTC)
- Because it is the same GENERAL election with the emphasis on GENERAL. You get two ballots: one for Assembly and one for the Resorts, and that results in a new Assembly and a new Resort councils. And they always happen on the same day, counted in the same room. The law doesn't mention Parliamentary Elections and Local Elections. It calls it elections period.KittenKlub (talk) 17:52, 21 July 2020 (UTC)
- If there are separate ballots (as confirmed above), the separate line (and potentially separate articles, if anyone were willing to write them) is warranted IMO. Number 57 18:01, 21 July 2020 (UTC)
- What about the district councilors, then?--Aréat (talk) 18:12, 21 July 2020 (UTC)
- Nevermind, I found the electoral law.--Aréat (talk) 19:00, 21 July 2020 (UTC)
