Scope of application

[edit]

This new template has been used for references to the so-called publication listings of particular editions of books. For example, see the citation of UK paperback at The White Dragon#References.

Should it be modified to handle book editions and magazine issues differently? Anyway the documentation should be modified. --P64 (talk) 16:41, 10 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

After this is resolved I'll be happy to add cross references (See also) to the documentation for {{isfdb title}} and siblings. --P64 (talk) 16:46, 10 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for paying attention! I only noticed the book listings after I had created the template. The justification for using the same template is that the parameters fit (I think) and the ISFDB database is the same. Each record has details of a particular edition (as far as I can tell so far) which fit both a magazine issue and a book printing (in which case the details may include the printing history as stated in that printing). I think it is from that point of view OK to use the same template. "Publication details" would be an alternative to "Publication contents". If you can update the documentation suitably please do so. --Mirokado (talk) 20:31, 10 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
