Oregon Military Museum
[edit]... that in 2011 the Oregon Military Museum was renamed in honor of James B. Thayer?
- Source: On p. 4 of the Oregon Military Museum’s on-line interpretive plan, it says: "In 2011, the Museum was named in honor of Brigadier General James B. Thayer, an outstanding military and civic leader in Oregon."

- Comment: This is new article that replaced redirect page with same title

- This article replaces a redirect and is new enough and long enough. The hook facts are cited inline, the article is neutral and I detected no copyright issues. A QPQ has been done. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 05:57, 8 October 2018 (UTC)
- Hi, I came by to promote this, but the hook seems like a very mundane fact. Something about the museum would be hookier. Yoninah (talk) 23:29, 17 October 2018 (UTC)
- How about this alternative hook? Source for 14K artifacts is "Oregon Military Museum Project" home page.
- ALT1:
... that the Oregon Military Museum has more than 14,500 artifacts and is named in honor of James B. Thayer?- @Orygun: Why is James B. Thayer important to you? Has anyone ever heard of him? Yoninah (talk) 00:47, 18 October 2018 (UTC)
- Museum thought Thayer was important enough to name their institution in his honor. Link in DYK to James B. Thayer article invites reader to find out why they did that. However, here’s alternative that drops reference to Thayer if that works better for you.--Orygun (talk) 04:38, 18 October 2018 (UTC)
- ALT2:
... that the Oregon Military Museum has more than 14,500 artifacts?- @Orygun: short hooks are certainly preferable, but they have to have some meat to them. I suggest you elaborate on the types of artifacts. Or, expanding your original hook:
- ALT0a:
... that in 2011 the Oregon Military Museum was renamed in honor of James B. Thayer, whose platoon discovered and liberated more than 15,000 people in a Nazi concentration camp near Wels, Austria?Yoninah (talk) 17:35, 18 October 2018 (UTC)
- It seems like above hook is more about Thayer than the museum. Here's option that adds more info about museum collection as you suggested.--Orygun (talk) 06:08, 19 October 2018 (UTC)
- ALT2a: ... that the Oregon Military Museum has more than 14,000 artifacts in its collection, including 50 vehicles, 750 weapons, and 5 military aircraft?
- Thanks, that's a good hook. I changed the figure to "more than 14,000" per the source; although the military museum website says "14,500", it's not "over 14,500," so the rounder number sounds better. ALT2a hook ref verified and cited inline. Rest of review per Cwmhiraeth. ALT2a good to go. Yoninah (talk) 12:31, 19 October 2018 (UTC)
