Talk:Wu–Yang monopole

Wu who?

This article said just "Wu and Yang"; no other names for them. So I look around the internet and found this reference to a book by Tai Tsun Wu and Chen Ning Yang. It's about monopoles, and it's the right era, so I went with it. Chen Ning Yang is a good link and looks like the right sort of person and the right timeline. Tai Tsun Wu is a red link. I see that Chen Ning Yang collaborated with Chien-Shiung Wu. Are these two Wus the same person? I am quite convinced now that Tai Tsun Wu is a Harvard professor and author of many physics books, and not the same person as Chien-Shiung Wu. Still to be resolved, which Wu is the Wu-Yang monopole named for. — Randall Bart 19:50, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am a physics grad student and I am very sure that Wu refers to Tai Tsun Wu, who is different from Chien-Shiung Wu (who did the experiment that demonstrated non-conservation of parity in weak interactions proposed by Lee and Yang). Heywoodt 21:51, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
