Bad News
[edit]Somebody had better tell the UT APO that the flag they got may have a ratio common to many flags, but that isn't the proper ratio of a Texas state flag. According to law, Texas flags have a ratio of 2-to-3, like the flag of France and many other tricolors. See Texas flag code. Johndodd 19:09, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
- Very interesting. According to the Flag Code, the ratio should be .667 (rounding up), but none of the flags mentioned in the article have that ratio. The original flag (51 x 90) had a ratio of .567. The biggest one current flag (75 x 120) has a ratio of .600. The smaller current flag (66 x 120) has a ration of .550. Largest flags or not?
[edit]Are they all really the largest Texas flags (i.e. there is no flag bigger then the smallest of the three) or only one or two of them or none of them? Nil Einne 09:25, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
- "World's Largest Texas Flag" is just the name. Whether any flag anywhere is acutally larger than the biggest one probably wouldn't change that. Mishatx 03:05, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
- But that still doesn't answer the question of whether or whether not there are any flags that are larger then any of the 3. I'm not an American so perhaps this is a strange question to you but for me, if something is called the world's largest Texas flag, I would be interest to know if it really was regardless whether or not it's just a name. It would be also interesting whether it was the largest when it was first made Nil Einne 17:28, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
- I don't think it is a strange question at all. My reading of the sources attached leads me to understand that the largest of the 3 flags is in fact the largest in the world. I will try to clarify in the article. Johntex\talk 02:33, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

Merge with Flag of Texas
[edit]Does this really justify its own article? Rob.derosa 09:28, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
- I don't think so, either - I suggested a merge. -- Schnee (cheeks clone) 09:43, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
- I agree with the merge, this is a trivia itemLyswim 10:21, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
- I disagree, on the basis of the articles Smokey the Cannon and Big Bertha (drum), which are of the same level of significance as this item. Mishatx 23:41, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
- I believe it merits its own article. This is a prominent tradition of a specific University. The article on Flag of Texas would not be the appropriate place to discuss who takes care of this flag, how it is used, how it came to exist, etc. Johntex\talk 03:17, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
I'm going to consider this no consensus to merge and take the merge tag off the page. Mishatx 05:23, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit]There is a link to a fundraising page. Is this appropriate? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.191.210.62 (talk) 06:12, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
- No longer a problem, so marking this as resolved. ---Another Believer (Talk) 14:54, 16 April 2019 (UTC)
