Comments - really interesing article, thanks.

  • Link "over" first time in the lead.
  • And maybe "strike-rate".
  • " rules of the game" are you being tournament specific, if not it's really the Laws of the game (and could be linked to Laws of cricket).
  • "of 17 to one." MOSNUM would say "17 to 1" to "seventeen to one". See "Reaction and aftermath" section too.
  • Link Somerset first time in Background.
  • "each of the three" picky but "the three" needs context, e.g. in English County Cricket...
  • "suffered in 1976, when" that's a bit Easter eggy for me.
  • " international stars such as" bit POV, would just say "international players such as..."
  • I think you should note that it's a one-day competition in the lead.
  • " no rule against declaring in one-day cricket" see above comment re:laws.
  • "Rose won the toss for Somerset, and chose to bat first. Rose himself opened the batting for Somerset, alongside Peter Denning. Worcestershire's West Indian bowler, Vanburn Holder, bowled the first over. Holder bowled seven deliveries—six donated a normal over, but he had to bowl one extra due to a no ball—all to Rose. Rose did not pla..." Three consecutive sentences begin with "Rose" and one pair end and start... "... Rose. Rose ..."
  • Did the Worcs players know about this in advance? If so we should be told. If not, I would have expected some on-field reaction to a declaration of such a nature.
  • There's nothing in any of the source material (of course, most of what I've got is pretty Somerset-centric). This is something I'm hoping to be able to find more on should I take this onto FA at some point. But I need to get hold of more newspaper sources if I'm going to do that. Harrias talk 07:48, 18 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • " over 150 miles" convert to km.
  • "His paper blamed" newspaper.
  • " his suggestions was" singular suggestion.
  • "Kerslake, the chairman offered" comma missing.
  • Last sentence of last section needs a reference.
  • Ref 10 - en-dash in date range in title please.
  • Same for ref 12.

Nothing major, a few things to mull over, so I'll put it on hold. The Rambling Man (talk) 12:23, 17 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, TRM, Controversies in England is a grandparent category of Sports scandals in England, so it should only go in the latter, not both. But I agree that this is essentially of GA-standard already - an interesting story that I'd never heard of until reading this article. BencherliteTalk 12:46, 17 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the review. I've done all but the Rose repetition, which is going to need a bit more work in terms of rephrasing pretty much that whole bit, so it'll have to wait until after work! Harrias talk 07:48, 18 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
No worries, ping me when you're done. The Rambling Man (talk) 07:50, 18 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Harrias how's it going? The Rambling Man (talk) 09:32, 26 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@The Rambling Man: Thanks for your patience - how is it now? Harrias talk 08:36, 29 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I made a small tweak ("for Somerset" was repeated unnecessarily), but otherwise I'm happy, so I'll promote. More of the same please! The Rambling Man (talk) 06:34, 30 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
