The recent move of the article formerly known as Windjammer was discussed at Talk:Iron-hulled sailing ship. Certes (talk) 14:28, 10 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Restore a stand-alone "Windjammer" article?

[edit]

Broichmore has made a strong case for retaining a "Windjammer" article, alongside the Iron-hulled sailing ship article that was moved from the "Windjammer" title. Here are some thoughts about a lead and section titles:

  1. Lead: Windjammers are sailing ships with multiple masts that may be either square rigged or fore-and-aft rigged or a combination of the two. The informal term arose during the transition from the Age of Sail to the Age of Steam.
  2. Etymology (Original perjorative term, pertaining especially to iron-hulled sailing ships, etc. German adoption of word as a loan word.)
  3. Examples (of types of vessels, called "windjammer")
  4. "Windjammer" in literature (How the word has been used in literature.)

We could probably draft the article below the "Redirect" function in the article space and then remove the redirect, when ready. What do other editors think? Cheers, HopsonRoad (talk) 14:02, 18 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
