[edit]This page is about the entire Wicocomico people. Specific information about the Northumberland County, VA, branch of the Wicocomico should be entered on Wicocomico people (Tidewater Virginia). Thank you. Pilch62 (talk) 04:31, 12 January 2011 (UTC)

[edit]Sadly, there is no "discussion". Wapanakamikok2011 is attempting to take over this page for his/her branch of the Wicocomico people, which has the same information on the page I made at Wicocomico people (Tidewater Virginia), after he/she blanked what information was originally on this page (actually, the Wicocomico page). Help!! Pilch62 (talk) 05:23, 12 January 2011 (UTC) PS: I'm afraid I inadvertantly violated the 3RR--I didn't realize it until I'd counted. My bad.
- Please also review his statements at here Pilch62 (talk) 05:29, 12 January 2011 (UTC)
- This problem has also been noted at WP:AN. Hopefully this can all be sorted out. --Jayron32 05:31, 12 January 2011 (UTC)
- I think it may be a misunderstanding about what I did to try and clarify the Wicocomico people(s) pages, and edits by another user (User:Morrillonline) that were being attributed to me. Pilch62 (talk) 05:47, 12 January 2011 (UTC)
- Actually, Pilch62, you never ever ever ever perform cut and paste moves. I have restored Wicocomico and turned this page into a redirect and replaced the deletion tags on the Tidewater Virginia fork (which is still identical).—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 08:39, 12 January 2011 (UTC)

The Battle of the Wilderness
[edit]The article now has reference to the Battle of the Wilderness. I am not familiar enough with the local history to know if this name is common, but that name almost universally is used to refer to a Civil War battle, and so just using the name here without any further description is likely to lead to confusion. [edit]Another issue with the content on this site is "King Machywap Taptico". All historic records indicate that his name is simply "Machywap" or "Machiawap". The surname Taptico was not adopted until later by William, who appears to be his son, while William was living in the eastern shore of Maryland. I'm the original Researcher that discovered, during the 1990s, all of the Machywap records that appear to connect him to William Taptico, Sr. Al Byrd's primary focus was William Taptico, Sr and William Taptico, Jr. during that time. This error needs to be corrected, for Virginia historians like Stephen Potter and Helen Rountree take a very dim view of erroneous information of this type being promoted as fact and this results in them ignoring all the actual facts that can be presented on this subject.

- I removed the term King and noted that the surname was added later, but you are welcome to create an account and edit these articles. Yuchitown (talk) 15:46, 30 April 2024 (UTC)Yuchitown
