Heavy revisions by "Deanbennett"
[edit]I think there is some usable material in the text added by this user, but the overall effect of the changes is to turn the article into something which blatantly violates WP:NPOV throughout. To "Dean": this is an encyclopedia article, not a platform for you to express your views. If you're interested in having some of your material incorporated into the article, I suggest you take it slow (don't rewrite the whole article all at once and just expect others to accept it), take WP:NPOV seriously in your edits, and be willing to discuss your edits here on the talk page as many of them are, in my opinion, debatable. I have made some edits incorporating a little of your material. I inadvertently made some of these edits while not signed in, from IP address 76.19.80.29. SethTisue 13:57, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
I have reverted the changes back to Seth's last revision. You must understand that taking them out is not censorship. We are taking them out because they are not being incorporated into the article in a sensitive and encyclopedic manner. At the moment your additions make the article seem like a platform for your anti-Whitehouse beliefs. As Seth says, you need to add them in a more careful manner, making them flow within the context of the article as a whole. And you need to engage in discussion here on this talk page to explain why your additions merit inclusion in a neutral encyclopedia article. --Richardrj talk email 14:26, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
Something about psychology
[edit]Sorry for removing the phrase "and other forms of esoteric linguistic design", but I don't know what it means and I don't know what to suggest replacing it with...? Something about "psychology", maybe? SethTisue 02:07, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
I see that someone removed NLP and added Scientology and Large Group Awareness Training, and then it got reverted by someone saying Bennett has "nothing to do" with Scientology or LGAT. I feel like I've read that some of the lyrics on at least one recent album are partly lifted from Scientology protocols, but I can't find the source right now and I don't know if it was authoritative anyway. Does anybody have a source on whether it makes sense to include references to any/all of these topics (NLP, Scientology, LGAT)? Certainly referencing those topics helps convey the flavor of what the lyrics are like, but I guess the article shouldn't actually say "Bennett's interest" unless he's on record somewhere expressing that interest. Just read any recent profiles of the band and/or interviews with the man himself. He's long expressed an interest in NLP, and more broadly the human psychology of manipulation (which seems to be the abiding theme in most of Whitehouse's lyrics, to some extent, from Birthdeath Experience on); In the same interviews (at least a few of them), Bennett talks about his study of the Marquis de Sade, including reading the Marquis' work in the original French. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.230.163.43 (talk) 19:09, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit]You obviously don't know much about Whitehouse. Susan Lawly is William Bennett's label, on which he releases all Whitehouse music. It's the official Whitehouse site. Please refrain from making statements on things about which you know nothing. --Richardrj talk email 11:45, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
- One is an unprofessional Website for a record label that sells Whitehouse albums [1]; I didn't notice anything there that's remotely suitable for an encyclopedia. With the other link it's difficult to tell what relation it has to the group at all [2]. Wikipedia is not a free advertising site for anything related to article topic. It's an encyclopedia, and references need to support article content. These links are WP:SPAM, and disallowed. In addition, they appear to be unreliable and unprofessional. - OK, forget about the Come Org one for now. Let me try and clarify the Susan Lawly one for you, since you're obviously having some trouble with it. Per WP:EL#What should be linked, "Wikipedia articles about any organization, person, web site, or other entity should link to the subject's official site". As I've already explained to you, Susan Lawly is the record label run by Whitehouse's founding – and now sole – member, William Bennett, and this site is the website of Susan Lawly. In other words, it is the official Whitehouse site. A quick scan of the website should make that obvious. For example, the section for booking enquiries gives email addresses of the same domain as the website. Now will you please reinstate the link. --Richardrj talk email 12:07, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
- Right then, now that we've sorted out the Susan Lawly link (without any kind of acknowledgement from you that you were wrong, I might add), let's have a look at the Come Org one. You say "it's difficult to tell what relation it has to the group at all". Not really – it's pretty obvious that it's some kind of discography – but in any case let me enlighten you. Come Org was the record label that William Bennett ran in the 80s, using it to put out music by Whitehouse and other artists, as well as some printed material. This site is clearly an unofficial resource that does nothing other than list the various material Bennett released on the label. As such it fulfils the third criterion of WP:EL, namely "sites that contain neutral and accurate material that cannot be integrated into the Wikipedia article". It is certainly not spam, since it is not selling or promoting anything (none of the material listed on the site is actually available from it). Please reinstate the link. --Richardrj talk email 06:19, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
- Richardrj is right. Both links should be reinstated. SethTisue (talk) 14:14, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
- I'm not going to argue. There's no rule that says an article needs to have *any* external links, that applies to unencyclopedic and unprofessional content such as Susan Lawly's page. (To be truthful, perhaps the most useless external link I have ever viewed, from Wikipedia. http://www.susanlawly.freeuk.com/) I'm almost sure with a little effort I could force you to remove the links. But then, we're talking about an article which gets an average of 100 views a day. It is what the Wikimedia Foundation a "low profile" page. Piano non troppo (talk) 05:08, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

Hanatarash and EYE
[edit]Don't know if it's worth incorporating, but boredoms founder Yamantaka Eye had quite the hate-on for Whitehouse. Not sure whether jokingly or serious, but enough to both call out Whitehouse in the liner notes of the second Hanatarash LP and naming the third Hanatarash LP "William Bennett Has No Dick".209.136.161.135 (talk) 22:04, 21 March 2011 (UTC)
