Correct name?
[edit]I notice that on their website they call themselves "Welsh Conservatives/Ceidwadwyr Cymreig". In the article they are called "The Welsh Conservative Party" in English but "Ceidwadwyr Cymru" is given as the Welsh name (presumably following the website) in the infobox. Which is correct as an official title? One reason I'm asking is that I think the Welsh name should be given in the opening paragraph, but should it be "Ceidwadwyr Cymru" - in which case this should be renamed "Welsh Conservatives" - or "Plaid Geidwadol Cymru" ("WCP")? - I don't know if it's what you mean by 'official title', but the registered Welsh language name is 'Plaid Geidwadol Cymru'. Hence, I suggest that the name should be kept as it is. The party may use either 'Welsh Conservative Party' or 'Welsh Conservatives' on the ballot paper as additional names of the Conservative and Unionist Party as registered with the Electoral Commission. - Thanks for clearing that up. I've amended the name in the infobox and added the Welsh name to the opening paragraph. Enaidmawr (talk) 17:28, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
- Ceidwadwyr Cymreig and "Welsh Conservatives" are also registered names. DrKiernan (talk) 17:38, 19 February 2013 (UTC)

Welsh Conservative Party → Welsh Conservatives – Common headword based both on branding and ngrams; also in line with Scottish Conservatives and Northern Ireland Conservatives. Newbiepedian (talk · C · X! · L) 01:30, 11 August 2018 (UTC)
- Support – As per WP:NCPP. A quick search in Google gives over 68,000 search results for "Welsh Conservatives" as compared to just over 28,000 for "Welsh Conservative Party", so the proposed name is clearly a far superior common name over the current one. Besides, the party itself does stylize its name as Welsh Conservative, as seen from the logo, its website, social media, etc. Impru20talk 11:28, 12 August 2018 (UTC)
- Support It's the name I certainly associate with them, the media associate with them and a quick look on their website confirms that they prefer to call themselves the "Welsh Conservatives". Greenleader(2) (talk) 21:55, 15 August 2018 (UTC)
