Thank you to those who are helping
[edit]The latest edits are the best edits I've seen to this article. I originally contributed WKBS-TV (long before the article's current form; now it is appropriately about the Altoona station) and WGTW-TV as seperate articles, but then merged them, and the current revision is the best revision I've seen. Thank you very much. -John 11:27, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
WOR-TV into Philly
[edit]Turns out, Rolosmokes is right. The senate did at one time try to get WOR-TV's signal extended into South Jersey, however, it turns out, it wasn't related to WKBS going dark. It was actually proposed to the FCC before WKBS even announced they were going dark, and it was actually due to Channel 9's move into New Jersey. I apologize for misinterpreting info. Check out http://www.philly.com. A Philadelphia Inquirer article from May 5, 1983 mentions this (Must subscribe to read the whole article, although what you can see gives you an idea, search for it via the advanced archive).
Not the same license as WKBS
[edit]According to the FCC file on the station, WGTW is a brand-new construction permit, dating from July 14, 1988. This means that WGTW is legally a separate station from the old WKBS, so I started a separate article for the old channel 48. Blueboy96 18:45, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
Why split?
[edit]Was it necessary to split this article into two? I don't think it makes much sense, the combined original article was fine as it was. Rollosmokes 06:17, 15 June 2006 (UTC)
- It looked like there was only one article because there was a chance that WGTW was the same license as WKBS. Turns out that they're separate licenses. Channel 48 had been dark long enough that WGTW is definitely a different station.Blueboy96 13:42, 15 June 2006 (UTC)
- For once I agree with Rollosmokes, I think the articles should be merged back. CoolKatt number 99999 15:36, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
- I disagree ... they're two completely different stations, and unless I missed something, WGTW has NEVER tried to claim WKBS' past history. If you had the same situation as WHDH-TV and WCVB-TV in Boston or WSVN-TV in Miami, maybe. But not in this case. Blueboy96 15:46, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
- Actually, on WGTW's now-defunct website, they did try to claim WKBS' past history when they had that article about the 10 year anniversary celebration in 2002. It mentioned that 48 had originally signed on the air in 1965, and even made a reference or two to WKBS. John
- Even so, it's not the same station ... based on the FCC file, it's an entirely new license, not the old WKBS license. So therefore, it is legally a different station. Blueboy96 00:35, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

- WGTW's history can't be expanded any further as a TBN station; it is now what it is. That was my reason for questioning the split initially. On second look, however, I don't have a problem with two separate articles as they are currently. Rollosmokes 16:21, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
- Agreed, WGTW in its secular guise was so different from WKBS that WKBS really merits a separate article. Blueboy96 00:35, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

- Keep the split! The stations are totally different, the only thing that is the same is the channel number. WTGW now just broadcasts crap and shouldn't even be on the air! Kramden4700 05:30, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
- Split was unnecessary. There should be one article on one frequency, not two articles on stations that broadcast on that frequency. CoolKatt number 99999 06:22, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
- In conclusion, if we have to split WKBS and WGTW, then we should do the same for KYW/WPTZ/WRCV, WFIL/WPVI and WIBF/WTAF/WTXF. CoolKatt number 99999 06:24, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
- Oh, BTW, saying that TBN is crap can be considered blasphemy. CoolKatt number 99999 03:04, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
- WKBS and WGTW are two different stations which had two different owners and two different licenses. WKBS and WGTW should be have seperate articles as they are not the same station. Would you merge WHYY into the WYBE article since they were orignally on channel 35? Kramden4700 22:25, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
- That is different. WHYY just happens to be a station that was on 2 channels in its history. WKBS/WGTW need to be merged. Either that, or split KYW/WPTZ/WRCV, WFIL/WPVI and WIBF/WTAF/WTXF. CoolKatt number 99999 21:35, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
- WKBS AND WGTW THEY ARE NOT THE SAME STATION!!!!!!!!! WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO GET THIS POINT ACROSS? YOU DO NOT OWN THESE ARTICLES! Kramden4700 01:38, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
- Please do not shout. CoolKatt number 99999 05:44, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
- Well given the fact that you seem to have no idea about Wikipedia:Own shouting is needed! Kramden4700 04:42, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

User:CoolKatt number 99999/Unbutchered history of WGTW-TV This is what the WGTW-TV page should look like. CoolKatt number 99999 06:02, 1 July 2006 (UTC)
- Remember, being different stations on the same article does NOT merit a split. A book and a movie based off that book does. CoolKatt number 99999 00:32, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
- For example, Memoirs of a Geisha and Memoirs of a Geisha (film): These articles were split because there needed to be different aritcles. But WGTW and WKBS-they are on the same frequency, and are licensed in the same area, they need to be merged. CoolKatt number 99999 00:34, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
- They are two UNRELATED television stations that just happen to be on the same channel and broadcast to the same general area. The are NOT THE SAME! Comparing apples and oranges out of left field like your favorite movie just makes you sound obsessive and hell bent on getting your way. You really need to see Wikipedia:Ownership of articles. Your so called Unbutchered history of WGTW-TV [1] is quite wrong as the history of the station starts in 1992, while WKBS's story ends in 1983. You are wrong, get over it. Kramden4700 04:42, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
- I know about WP:OWN, and you yourself are wrong. It does not matter if they are unrelated. They need to be merged. You get over it. CoolKatt number 99999 04:48, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
Chris Regina article.
[edit]I just got to creating the article on Chris Regina who's currently the Vice President of Programming for the Sci Fi Channel. However, he did used to work as Programme Director for this channel and I was wondering whether someone here could include more information on his work. DrWho42 02:59, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

Sale to longport media
[edit]When will WGTW — TV be sold the longport media as part of a TV version of WOND radio 1400? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:80:4200:3910:152A:7C28:A819:7213 (talk) 00:41, 20 March 2021 (UTC)
