[edit]@Domdeparis: Hi, what do I need to do to make sure this page stays? Really it's relevant about as much as any local club in New Zealand, this just happen to be one of the last clubs in Wellington that I could see that didn't already have a page. It's relevant to people in the football community in wellington and New Zealand NZ Footballs Conscience (talk) 10:30, 28 April 2017 (UTC)
- Hi @NZ Footballs Conscience: all sports teams regardless of their status amateur or pro have to meet WP:NORG guidelines. There is no inherited notability and just because other clubs have their own pages doesn't automatically make this one notable. You need to find in-depth (and not just routine coverage, scores etc) in secondary sources that talk specifically about this club. Newspaper articles for exemple. i didn't tag it for deletion but the notability tag is a reminder of the guidelines that have to be met. All pages have to meet the WP:GNG guidelines. Have a look at these 2 pages and that should help you. Cheers Domdeparis (talk) 10:38, 28 April 2017 (UTC)
- @Domdeparis: great thank you. Was more worried it would get deleted, I know their will be newspaper articles etc that I'll be able to reference to bring the page up to standard, cheers. NZ Footballs Conscience (talk) 10:42, 28 April 2017 (UTC)
- @NZ Footballs Conscience: that doesn't mean that someone else won't tag for deletion it but I doubt that anyone will especially as there is this conversation on the talk page. Domdeparis (talk) 10:53, 28 April 2017 (UTC)
- @NZ Footballs Conscience: please de not remove the tag again without reading WP:NORG and finding sources that meet the notability criteria. Dom from Paris (talk) 16:39, 2 February 2018 (UTC)
- @Domdeparis: this is a football club and I'm not looking at WP:NORG it meets WP:FOOTYN by the fact that the club play in a National Cup competition. Both the men and women teams have played in National NZ football cups and made final rounds. NZFC(talk) 18:17, 2 February 2018 (UTC)
- That is an essay and not a guideline. All articles have to meet GNG. The guidelines for clubs are WP:NORG.Dom from Paris (talk) 20:57, 2 February 2018 (UTC)
- NORG describes an organisation as (my holding) Simply stated, an organization is a group of more than one person formed together for a purpose. This includes commercial and non-commercial activities, such as charitable organizations, educational institutions, political parties, hospitals, institutions, interest groups, social clubs, sports teams, companies, partnerships, proprietorships, religious denominations, sects, etc.Dom from Paris (talk) 21:00, 2 February 2018 (UTC)
- Yes and while I understand that, sports team articles have been through AFD and stayed because they played in National Cup competitions. But I appreciate where you are coming from, I do plan to spend some time updating this article as there is more out there but got distracted creating a player page yesterday for a player that got a sudden call up for the Phoenix. Will look to do more here in next day or two. NZFC(talk) 21:06, 2 February 2018 (UTC)
