Expand
[edit]I'd like to know how to expand this page on Indian model/actress Udita Goswami. I tried filling in an image on the side of the page with her description, but it comes up as a link to another page. Could someone advice me? Thanks
- If the image already there is yours, you succeded, if not ask a more specific question on my user page. Lincher 16:04, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
Hi KillerDove!
[edit]PLEASE stop vandalizing this article because you're from Assam and want Udita to be Assamese. Wiki has really become a joke lately when contributors ignore firsthand sources in preference for unreliable user edited sites like IMDb or fanmade sites like http://www.udita-goswami.com/ to push an agenda. It's laughable that you actually thought the latter was an official site (the layout alone makes it obvious it's not) and completely ignored my REAL source---an interview.
ANITA : U luk very non Indian, r u mix of 2 races?
Udita Goswami : yes, im mix of two races my mom is from shillong and dad from banaras

Hello IP user
[edit]Have you not realized that YOU are the VANDAL in question here? LOL!!!!!!!!! It is because of vandals like you who do not even have the basic understanding of the workings of a "Wiki" and illiterate enough to not even be able to create an user account for yourself. That I am from Assam or not has no bearing on the topic at hand. If you possess the bare minimum layman ability to check my list of contributions , you will get on terms with that. And while I am still laughing, let me make it clear that http://www.bollyhungama.com is IN NO WAY a credible source. On a more serious note, I am REVERTING the edits made by you and issuing you another warning. DO NOT TURN THIS INTO AN EDITING WAR.

- Illiterate enough to make an user account? First, that makes absolutely no sense. Why would making an account requite literacy? I actually do have an account, but I forgot the password. Second, it's not necessary to make an account to edit Wiki articles. And I find it amusing that you're talking about the "basic understanding of the working of a 'Wiki'" (please work on your English) when you believe that a interview from a REPUTABLE site like BollywoodHungama.com is "is in no way a credible source," but then believe that a fan site that clearly copied and pasted everything on it from other sites is a valid source LOL. What a joke. And yes, I'm sure your being from Assam has nothing to do with your inability to see facts here. Changing it back AGAIN.
- BTW, why was it necessary to create another discussion topic on this talk page when I already one about this issue? Are you sure you're familiar with Wiki? I'm scared to see your list of contributions. :/ —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.188.18.28 (talk) 21:11, 4 January 2011 (UTC)
- Hey KillerDove! Guess what? I got my password back. :D I just reverted the article back and I'm still flabbergasted by your claiming that BollywoodHungama is not a credible (even though you kept another reference with that site in your own edit), but then include user-edited sites like IMDb and Zimbio as well as a cheap fan site like Udita-Goswami.com (it even says fansite in the title) as your sources. Yes, VERY credible. NOT. AyanP (talk) 21:29, 4 January 2011 (UTC)Ayan

She is NOT Assamese
[edit]For the last time, PLEASE stop editing the article to claim she's Assamese or part Assamese. She is not:

Nepali-Indian??
[edit]How can she be Nepali-Indian (as the lead states) when both her parents are Indians, from Benares and Shillong, as the article states?? BigJolly9 (talk) 10:11, 18 March 2013 (UTC)
- She's Indian. These weird trolls keep editing the article just the person above who kept pretending she was Assamese lmao. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.89.15.64 (talk) 07:00, 18 October 2013 (UTC)
Full DoB
[edit]@Cyphoidbomb: Sir, recently in this edit, full DoB of this subject has been removed with the reason given "removing full date of birth for privacy reasons and identity fraud, wee WP:DOB". Now WP:DOB says, Wikipedia includes full names and dates of birth that have been widely published by reliable sources, or by sources linked to the subject such that it may reasonably be inferred that the subject does not object to the details being made public.
and The Times of India is a reliable source. To which Doug Weller said, "The Times is a reliable source, but that's not enough to show it's widely published." My point is whether reliable news agency sources like the one used here alone can be used to display full DoB for Indian actors/celebs like in the case of Kareena Kapoor or we need more than one source.
- Secondly, is "bookmyshow" reliable source. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 20:32, 1 December 2018 (UTC)
- I always assumed that if a reliable published source like Times of India published it, that would be sufficient, as that would qualify as "widely published". I'm not really comfortable with something like this from TOI, because it looks hastily thrown together, rather than coming from an article where someone presumably did some fact-checking. The guideline doesn't say that the DOB has to be in many sources, but I guess Doug has another perspective on this. Maybe you should ask him to explain. I wouldn't use bookmyshow.com for this information, as there's no telling where it comes from. It could have come from Wikipedia for all we know. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 00:56, 2 December 2018 (UTC)
- @Cyphoidbomb:Actually I'm skeptical about this as well and also the bookmyshow.com source. It is surprising that the only verified account of Goswami is the Instagram one. I'll to try find something.
- Edit: Will this work? It only mention Day and Month. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 17:17, 2 December 2018 (UTC)
- It would be enough for my standards as a reference for day and month. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:22, 2 December 2018 (UTC)
- @Cyphoidbomb: Are you saying I should only mention "9 Febraury" and get rid of the "1984" part? - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 16:02, 3 December 2018 (UTC)
- @Fylindfotberserk: If we can't reliably source the year, yes, we should omit it. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 16:36, 3 December 2018 (UTC)
- @Cyphoidbomb: Consider it done. Fylindfotberserk (talk) 17:00, 3 December 2018 (UTC)
