Buchholz or Boo-Shultz?
[edit]I think we may have Ash's name mixed up, Isn't "Boo-Shultz" his real name? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.141.196.252 (talk) 03:52, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
- I've seen both names used in various articles (such as those referenced in the USS article), but I am under the impression that Ash's actual last name is Buchholz and that Boo-Shultz is a stage name.
- If you look at USS's myspace page for example, it lists the band members as Ashley Boo-Shultz and Human Kebab. Given Human Kebab is obviously Jason Parson's stage name, it would only make sense if Ash used his in this context.
- I also found this article on the web from 1998 about a band called Point 3, which also goes on to interview the "vocalist/guitarist Ash Buchholz." Although I can find no mention of Point 3 in any USS articles, I am willing to bet it's the same performer; the article mentions that Point 3 was originally based in Ontario and describes Ash's interest in Stephen Hawking and Aldous Huxley. In the USS articles I read there were references to Ash's interest in physics and Einstein.
- I also wonder if he took on the "Boo-Shultz" moniker because this is how the name Buchholz is supposed to be pronounced. Personally I thought it would be pronounced "Buck-Holtz", but the "Boo-Shultz" alias makes me wonder...Marchije (talk) 17:39, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
- Ashley's real last name is Buchholz, he played some solo shows as USS in 2003. Started playing with Jasons Parsons and a third member (charles Topping)in 2005 under the name Team of Captains until they disbanded and Ash+Jay started playing together as under the name USS in 2007 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.138.44.87 (talk) 04:26, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
re: page edits
[edit]If Matthewvonwagner would like to talk about himself on this page, perhaps he can do so in a more eloquent manner than merely tacking himself on to pre-existing, fully formed sentences.
Also, in his edit, Matthewvonwagner credits himself with recording "Welding to the C:\". Yet in the liner notes of the cd Mr. von Wagner is not credited at all on "Hollowpoint", USS's big hit. Credit does, however, go to DJ Ian, who "mixed and fairy dusted" the song. If Matthewvonwagner cares to mention his own work on the EP, he should go out of his way to credit DJ Ian's work as well.
Also, for the sake of clarity, in the liner notes of "Welding to the C:\", production (a process that includes 'recording') is variously credited to (in addition to Matthewvonwagner ) USS, Sugarcoatz, Chris Davies, Charles Topping and DJ Ian. Again, if Matthewvonwagner would like to mention himself on the page, he should give credit where credit is due. For the sake of balance, the efforts of these people should be mentioned as well. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.242.24.88 (talk) 17:22, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
re: page edits
[edit]I reversed the edits of 99.233.249.22 because of their inaccuracy. The edits said that Hollowpoint 'was recorded and mixed by Matthew von Wagner (Alpha Galates, Crystal Castles) at Rainbow Trout Studios in Toronto.' According to the liner notes of Welding to the C:\, it was not. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.242.29.101 (talk) 17:01, 29 November 2008 (UTC)
Spelling of the Name of the Two-stringed Bowed Instrument of China
[edit]I believe that what is spelt as "ehru" in this article ought to be spelt as "erhu", as it is in the article to which "ehru" links. Mathmoose (talk) 19:54, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
- You are absolutely correct. I've made spelling corrections. Thanks for pointing them out! —Marchije•speak/peek 05:49, 15 December 2024 (UTC)

[edit]welding the c:/ was released on july 19th, 2007.
also, USS won "best group/duo" at the 2009 canadian independant music awards (http://www.cmw.net/cmw2009/awards_indies.asp) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.138.44.87 (talk) 23:28, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
Toronto's west end
[edit]you mean Etobicoke... it sounds too cool the first way, it's just Etobicoke... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.230.212.232 (talk) 08:57, 9 January 2010 (UTC)
It is already specific with stating the neighbourhood Parkdale, which is not Etobicoke. Also in my experience Etobicoke does not seem to be recognized as a separate city (from Toronto). It is distinguished to people in Ontario and possibly rest of Canada, because people from Toronto don't consider it Toronto, but Google Maps brings it up as a neighbourhood in Toronto. Don't know when the Parkdale details were added, but it could have been after this comment. I think it's fine as is now. Mattkickbox (talk) 19:49, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
PARKDALE is a neighbourhood of the City of Toronto. Etobicoke, which is not referred to as "toronto's west end" but "in the west end of(metro) Toronto" is a suburb that is incorporated into METROPOLITAN TORONTO. it gave us those fun fellas, the Ford Brothers. 'nuff said? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.93.35.6 (talk) 21:50, 27 October 2012 (UTC)
History and Discography
[edit]I created proper album pages for Approved and Advanced Basiscs. The main article entries on Weldng the C:/ and Questamation can probably removed or added to their respective albums. The history for the band in year by year can probably be abridged as the 2013 and 2014 don't contain enough information to warrant their own sections.
There's some bias throughout the history, the section on Mavericks describing Ashley MacIsaac as a "bad boy" reads like an advertisement. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dropseagull (talk • contribs) 06:28, 28 August 2014 (UTC)
