This article ignores early trance music

The article (seems to) incorrectly claim that trance music began in the 1990s in Germany. While this may be partially true, at least during the same time frame, psychedelic trance / goa trance was evolving in places such as Israel. There is no mention of psy trance in that desription, as if it somehow isn't relevant, even though it is considered by many to be the original trance music, and the first viable mixes by Sasha, Digweed, Oakenfold all were in this style. "Acid trance" is mentioned, and on that page it says it began in the late 1980s. Well, if that's true, then that in itself throws a monkey wrench into the idea that Germany was the birthplace. Of course Germany had a role, but seriously, so did Israel, and perhaps India as well. The articles for goa and psy trance state the late 80s and early 90s as their time of emergence. What do you guys think would be the best way to present this information? Surely those styles are as much trance music as the German type, but if one disagrees, then at least it should be mentioned that this form of trance music came from or was influenced by the others. This article it says that trance music is developed in Germany.That is completely not true.Trance music is invented in India.Trance the word comes from India.Meditation,trance you get it?It can not be invented in Germany in 1990.It is starting in India in Goa and progressing with the hippy movement in 1960's.The Euro trance is invented in Germany and that is just a genre in trance music.

Well, what we really need are sources that verify the claims you (and the article) make. This needs to be based on high quality, secondary sources. Really, given the length of time we're talking about, what would be ideal would be a serious scholarly work that traces the roots of this genre. Of course, we won't be able to definitively say, "On July 10, at 2 am, in a club in..." But I would have to assume someone has put some serious work into researching this. So lets start with other articles on Wikipedia.If this not put you in doubt that this article needs changes than many articles related with trance music and trance music dj's on Wikipedia are wrong.Check this Article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goa_Gil. None of that helps. Wikipedia is not actually a reliable source, per WP:RS. Otherwise Wikipedia articles could all just reference each other, and it could be 100% made up. Now, there may be reliable sources in those articles; if there are, please feel free to raise which ones would be relevant here. Sorry, I actually know absolutely nothing about trance music...I don't think I've even heard it more than a couple of times. I watch this article because it's had years of problems with people adding unsourced information. Here, for example, you're welcome to add whatever you can verify, but absent verification, the article will just have to be "incomplete". To clarify: you shouldn't be looking for an old article from the 1980s; that would probably be a WP:PRIMARY source, and would be of questionable value. Instead, you should be looking for a contemporary secondary source that is looking retrospectively on the history of trance/dance/etc. Qwyrxian (talk) 12:52, 10 June 2013 (UTC)

The article states that 'the original melodic trance sound first appeared around 1993 in Frankfurt', thus ignoring (among others) the fact that Marc Reeder's MFS label (which specialized in Trance) was already founded in 1990 in Berlin, featuring artists such as Paul Van Dyk, Effective Force or Cosmic Baby. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bass.tee (talk • contribs) 13:12, 15 August 2013 (UTC)

What about the KLF?

The article incorrectly states Trance music started about 1993 in Frankfurt.

The KLF started as house music, but they soon released a number of tracks in a style that they actually called "pure trance" in 1988 and 1989. For example "Last train to Trancentral" and "What time is love?".

As someone else here has commented, the style of trance music may have even appeared before the KLF, but I think the KLF were the first to actually call it Trance.

Festivals list is poorly sourced

WP:SOURCELIST is clear that WP:V policy applies to every entry in a list to demonstrate that it merits listing. The § Music festivals section is currently full of redlinks and unreferenced non-links, and has been tagged {{specific section}} for two years (the whole article has been tagged for verifiability and other problems for four years). The problem I see is also {{cleanup list}}. Seven years ago, that concern was noted Talk:Trance (music genre)/Archive 3#Events section, where the response was that this list is useful and deleting it would waste the substantial effort it took to compile it. But I disagree—neither of those are within content-inclusion policies or guidelines. If we have secondary refs on the topic that list examples, that would support listing them here because they are verifabily good examples of the topic. If we have bluelinks for the examples, that would support listing them here because they are notable in their own right (and presumably their individual articles have refs to demonstrate they are on-topic here). It's been a long time with no resolution: here's the chance to discuss; I plan to prune the list in a few days unless there are policy/guideline-based objections. Anyone is free to (re)add entries with refs at any time; no effort is lost. DMacks (talk) 14:12, 4 April 2018 (UTC)

@DMacks: As far as I can see, the festivals list is making a horrible mess of an otherwise reasonable article, and other genre articles are not similarly burdened with such lists (e.g. rock music, electronic dance music (has prose), hip hop music, folk music (prose, just about)). I'd prefer to split to List of trance festivals (already present in the See also section of List of electronic music festivals), merge to List of electronic music festivals, or nuke the section if the notable festivals are already present in the latter list. --kingboyk (talk) 20:04, 8 April 2020 (UTC)

Wikipedia is Spanish mentions the album "Trancefer" (1981) by Klaus Schulze and, the band "Dance 2 Trance" as possible origins.
