Born in 1996?
[edit]According to the current sources, it says that she was born on May 17, 1996, but it seems unlikely that this information is correct, she is probably older than that. Are those sources reliable? --Carioca (talk) 20:54, 5 September 2012 (UTC)
She is quite clearly older than 16, and it should be noted that she posed topless for GQ, something that would be much more controversial if she were a minor. I think 1996 is a typo or a mistake that has then propagated because it's from the only easy to find article that mentions her birth year. Other sources that probably got the information from the same article shouldn't be used to verify this. Urbanski (talk) 20:37, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
- Yeah, I fully agree with you. The current sources clearly are not reliable. Her birth year should be removed until someone finds more reliable sources. --Carioca (talk) 20:49, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
- This story notes that her age is "a closely guarded secret" - but also says she is in her 20s. The 1996 date is clearly wrong. [Winipeg Free Press|http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/arts-and-life/entertainment/TV/no-trick-all-treat-64901022.html] 184.99.126.31 (talk) 04:23, 11 September 2012 (UTC)
- Further evidence the date is wrong. On her Twitter feed, she says "Thanks for the b-day love everyone" on Feb 20. I am removing the birthdate information. --EricE (talk) 21:33, 14 September 2012 (UTC)
- For the sake of precision, Spiridakos did not pose "topless" and the pictures in GQ would be legal if she were 16. That said I beleive she is in her early 20's.72.75.27.134 (talk) 00:17, 19 September 2012 (UTC)
- Just because the photos would be legal if she had been sixteen when they were taken doesn't mean they would have been free from controversy. Witness the controversy sparked by that Annie Liebovitz photo of Miley Cyrus. --anon. 71.183.139.60 (talk) 05:10, 2 January 2014 (UTC)
- She graduated from École Secondaire Oak Park High School in 2000 http://www.pembinatrails.ca/oakpark/Info/Newsletters/June.pdf Krawhitham (talk) 17:21, 19 January 2013 (UTC)
- N.B. I recall that before she turned eighteen, Jessica Biel posed naked but in such ways that the, um, scandalous parts of her body were hidden from view; nonetheless, a controversy ensued. And despite my inability to see, um, anything, I found the one photo from that set that I saw more erotic than the typical Page 3 photo in the UK tabloids. --anon. 71.183.139.60 (talk) 04:58, 2 January 2014 (UTC)
Family Village Not on Cephalonia
[edit]I knew the family back in Greece, and and they have no connection to Kephalonia. They are from Lakonia (as in the Sparta, Peloponnese area) and she lived in Laconia. The article linked to a town in Kephalonia and that is not correct. She is from the Sparta area like just Helen of the Iliad).72.75.27.134 (talk) 23:46, 18 September 2012 (UTC)
- Φιλε, τι ειναι το αληθινο της μικρο ονομα; Δεν εχω ακουσει αλλη Ελληνιδα να λεγεται «Tracy». (Pardon my Greek. :] By the way, my father's from Kefalonia and my mother was from the other side of Taygetus.) --anon. 71.183.139.60 (talk) 05:30, 2 January 2014 (UTC)
More Birth Date Speculation
[edit]The latest incarnation of a birth date was added as February 14, 1988 by 173.219.160.225 on 18 September 2012. While the date is believable, it is uncited and therefore should not be in the article as it may be possibly only speculative. Per the Winnepeg Free Press article above, she apparently intends for the date to be secret. Cite it reliably, or leave it out. --EricE (talk) 21:35, 20 September 2012 (UTC)
- Yeah, the birth date needs a reliable source. --Carioca (talk) 21:11, 23 September 2012 (UTC)
- The only reliable source I've seen is the The Globe and Mail, which published her age as 24, which I cited inline. There have been a couple stories in gossip magazines that she graduated high school in the class of 2000, making her 29 or 30, but unless published by a reliable source, it shouldn't be added. dissolvetalk 18:12, 9 October 2012 (UTC)
- I found an entry on Listal[1] that seems to confirm February 14, 1988 as her birthdate, though I'm not sure if it can be considered an official source. Anyone have opinions about that site? --Flyingstar16 (talk) 15:23, 27 November 2012 (UTC)
- But a person she follows[2] on Twitter wished her a happy birthday on February 20th[3] (I'm going to hell for this :| ) --Flyingstar16 (talk) 16:05, 27 November 2012 (UTC)
- Listal, from the 'about' page[1] appears to be user-generated content, as is Twitter, so both would be considered self-published sources. The policy for biographies of living persons is to 'never use self-published sources'. The gossip article source I mentioned "Just How Old Is "Revolution" Star Tracy" questions the validity of her being 25. Per WP:DOB, her date of birth shouldn't be included in the article unless published widely by reliable sources. dissolvetalk 18:39, 27 November 2012 (UTC)
- Is a school newsletter a reliable source? http://www.pembinatrails.ca/oakpark/Info/Newsletters/June.pdf Krawhitham (talk) 17:25, 19 January 2013 (UTC)

- It might be.. Even though, someone with more knowledge than me should do the math: if "Class of 2000" means that she graduated from secondary school in 2000 and, according to Secondary_school#Canada she was 18/19 when she graduated, this means that (2000-18/19) = she was born in 1982/1981.. Suggestions? --Flyingstar16 (talk) 23:14, 14 February 2013 (UTC)
- Yes. That date is already given. Wikipedia:Manual of Style (lead section), quoting:
Isn't this secrete-keeping both interesting and notable? I wonder if "any prominent controversies," sorta implies prominent discrepancies, oddities, and the like? I think so."The lead should ...define the topic, establish context, explain why the subject is interesting or notable, and summarize the most important points—including any prominent controversies." ..."consideration should be given to creating interest in reading more of the article,"

- Yes. That date is already given. Wikipedia:Manual of Style (lead section), quoting:
- This is true. She isn't a super genius that graduated High School after just barely turning age 12 just before Graduation. She's of the class of 2000 and that isn't up in the air that is a known stated fact. The birth date is either 1982 or 1981, as much as she doesn't want people to know that. It definitely is *not* 1998 (It seems to move forward every once and a while which is funny). Whoever keeps editing the page to have the birth year say 1998 please stop as that isn't close to a good speculation at all. ChibiMewmew (talk) 05:10, 18 January 2014 (UTC)
- The Winnipeg Free Press published that the Spiradakos family moved back to Canada in 1992.[2] Tracy in an NBC interview stated that she was "about 9" when they moved back.[3] This suggests a birth year of around 1983. Again, this is a WP:BLPPRIVACY issue. Until her birthdate is published widely by reliable secondary sources, it should not be included in the article. dissolvetalk 14:49, 5 February 2014 (UTC)
The Winnipeg Free Press features an interview with one of Tracy's brothers talking about their family's restaurant in Greece. In it he mentions that he was 6 or 7 when their family moved to Greece. This interview was from early 2014 and it mentions that the brother was 33. Which indicates his birth year being 1980. While this doesn't confirm Tracy's exact birth year, it's definitely NOT 1988. So to all those who think she was born that year, please stop editing the page to say so. Because if she were and her brother being 6 or 7 when their family went to Greece, that would mean that Tracy wasn't born then and she herself stated that she was 4 when her family left Canada.Kcj5062 (talk) 18:44, 8 May 2020 (UTC)

Date confirmed by TS herself
[edit]Tracy Spiridakos herself said she was born on February 20th[1]. Per WP:DOB this is a valid source
Wikipedia includes full names and dates of birth that have been widely published by reliable sources, or by sources linked to the subject such that it may reasonably be inferred that the subject does not object.
It's clear she does not object, and it's clearly a source linked to the subject, so, unless there's proof she lied, it should stay there. --Claudio ping! 22:08, 14 December 2013 (UTC) (edited because I forgot the reference --Claudio ping! 22:11, 14 December 2013 (UTC))
Removing the DOB, again...
[edit]OK, I am going to go ahead and remove the DOB from the article, again. While the Twitter ref cited above works as a primary source confirmation of her day of birth, no source that I can find verifies her year of birth (or age). And a DOB without a year is a pretty useless thing to report.
Bottom line: Until the year of Spiridakos's birth can be verified by a bona fide reliable secondary source, her DOB should/must stay out of the article, as per WP:BLPPRIVACY. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 15:59, 26 September 2016 (UTC)
- Leaving a birthdate out of ANYONE'S article greatly disturbs me...I can't think of any legitimate reason to conceal it.However,Spiridakos has two contradictory birthdates out there that are even on the same webpage,at marriedbiography.com...May 17,1987 and February 20,1988.There should be some mention of the ambiguity in the article until a definitive answer is obtained.12.144.5.2 (talk) 20:40, 16 June 2018 (UTC)
- Please refer (again) to WP:BLPPRIVACY – we don't include DOB's in BLP articles on Wikipedia unless they are widely reported in multiple Reliable secondary sources. In the case of Spiridakos, even her age isn't included in articles, let alone her exact DOB. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 04:47, 17 June 2018 (UTC)
- Agree with above. Unless a reliable source (primary or secondary can be found, the DOB needs to stay out. While we could include the day, as her verified twitter account is fine for that, the date is too ambiguous. So it stays out. Only in death does duty end (talk) 00:11, 7 July 2018 (UTC)
And I've just removed an approximate WP:DOB yet again – all editors need to review WP:BLPPRIVACY: if Spiridakos wanted her age or DOB to be widely publicized, it would be. She hasn't, so the assumption is that she does not want this information widely disseminated, and thus it should not be included here. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 01:58, 8 May 2020 (UTC)
Born in 1988?
[edit]Is this a reliable source?! 49.228.185.131 (talk) 13:32, 29 August 2020 (UTC)
- Hard to tell, but I doubt it. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 15:03, 29 August 2020 (UTC)
- Unlikely. She graduated from Oak Park High School in the year 2000(and this information is actually correct). She'd have to be some sort of a super genius to have graduated only just a few months after turning 12. And this clearly isn't the case. I think an article from her old school congratulating her when she got her role on The Revolution and mentioning what class she was from would be a pretty reliable(if not the most reliable) source and have more credibility than all these sites throwing out random younger ages. I've also read other interviews from her and she mentioned that before going into acting she's had several jobs over the years. Two of them were being a bank teller and a bartender. Two jobs that I'm certain you have to be at least 18 for. The Winnipeg Free Press also mentions that she worked at her family's restaurant while she was in high school and that her family moved back to Canada in 1992. And Tracy has stated that she was 4 when they moved to Greece and 9 when they went back to Canada. All of this info suggests her birth year either being 1982 or 1983. But even so, unless there's an accurate source regarding her DOB or Tracy herself decides to reveal how old she is, it's probably best to not include it in the article. Cheatsheet.com has bios of various Chicago PD castmembers including Tracy. In the bios of the other castmembers, it includes either their age or the year they were born. However neither of these are included in Tracy's bio. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kcj5062 (talk • contribs) 00:42, 31 August 2020 (UTC)
Another birth year speculation
[edit]I found this interview with Tracy on Spotify.
At around 11:35-11:36 she mentions that she's three years younger than her middle brother. In early 2014 the Winnipeg Free Press published an interview with that brother about their family restaurant in Winnipeg and it said that he was 33 at the time which makes his birth year 1980. I'm not sure if this will be considered reliable enough to at least put 1983 on the main page, but I'm certain this means any site that has 1988 listed is wrong. Especially considering the source with her school newsletter listing her as from the class of 2000. Kcj5062 (talk) 16:10, 18 February 2023 (UTC)
- The problem is that doing that is a clear WP:SYNTH... But, yes – 1988 as her YOB is definitely wrong. It's got to be earlier – like, 1984 or 1983. But as per WP:BLPPRIVACY, we have no WP:RS with either her own age, or her DOB, so it needs to stay out of the article. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 20:31, 18 February 2023 (UTC)
