Marcelo Tomás Barrios Vera → Tomás Barrios Vera – a majority of sources use the shortened name and player has officially changed his name with the ATP here Adamtt9 (talk) 18:07, 30 January 2022 (UTC)
- This is a contested technical request (permalink). — Amakuru (talk) 12:18, 3 February 2022 (UTC)
- Hi, I think this request is ok and I'm willing to do it. But can I check with you, why does the article itself call the player Tomás Barrios? Dr. Vogel (talk) 18:31, 30 January 2022 (UTC)
- I'm not quite sure. I see the source they used refer to him as Tomás Barrios but the official ATP site doesn't. Adamtt9 (talk) 18:32, 30 January 2022 (UTC)
- So right now the article refers to the player as "X or Y", and you're asking for it to be moved to "Z". That's really inconsistent. I think that the article should probably use (and source) the target name before we move it to the target name. Dr. Vogel (talk) 18:46, 30 January 2022 (UTC)

- Support. The proposed name is unambiguous and trivially more concise, as in, every use of the longer name is also a use of the shorter one. Yes, the article needs work. Yes, he's officially changed his name. No, neither of those points has terribly much relevance to this RM. But let us move on. See target history...!!! Hopefully this will lead to stability.
