I'm not sure where this should go on the page, but it is something that's been bothering me since I first heard the episode's plot. There's a law that states that all true stories, even fictionalized versions of real events, must be stated as such. Since the movie is virtually a scene-by-scene play of his life, Ted would have legal grounds to sue Tony. Alternately, he should have been contacted beforehand, given his permission (or denied, killing the project), and then gotten royalties from it. There's even a line in the credits of movies, near the end, that usually states that "Any events, either real or fictional, that resembles this movie are completely coincidental" (Or something to that effect) unless the events are based on a true story or a fictional work (such as 10 Things I Hate About You being a reworking of Taming of the Shrew). Yes, I realize that it makes for a more interesting story without this interjection, but seeing as one of the characters on the show is a lawyer, this ought to have been pointed out in a footnote at the very least. I just felt this needed to be mentioned somewhere, even if it's just on the talk page for the episode. --Rognik 74.210.89.205 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 04:43, 18 May 2010 (UTC).[reply]

There may be a way to adjust the article to include a mention of the legal realities. I'd be surprised and disappointed if the writers did not at some point have Ted meet Tony or Stella again, it would be a shame to set this up and not to reuse it over and over again. We will have to wait for season 6. -- Horkana (talk) 01:18, 19 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ending Baggages

[edit]

There are editors who do not think individual Wikipedia episode articles should exist for How I Met Your Mother. There are also editors who delete first and ask questions later. There is a strong possibility the section titled "Ending Baggages" will be deleted. Presenting these details as a list may be practical but reformatting them and presenting them another way would probably make them less likely to be deleted. At the moment the Plot summary is very short, nowhere near the 400-700 words allowed. The plot section might/hopefully will be expanded and allow us to reduce the very long lists in the rest of the article, especially the list of "Baggage". Better we clean it up before some trigger happy editor tries to make claims about trivia or notability. So please, try to keep it tidy and lets not give editors excuses to delete big chunks of this article. -- Horkana (talk) 01:18, 19 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Loved the trivia of "stealing an apartment", just thought of it over the weekend and was going to mention it here. great job! (not so big into wiki, but let whoever read this rejoice;-) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.86.112.189 (talk) 22:35, 19 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There room for continuity and cultural references but the "Baggage" section goes too far. It is awkward to verify and will very likely be removed by others as WP:TRIVIA so I've moved it here. There are a few that such as "Slept with Barney" which might merit a continuity point and if they are mentioned in a review it would help establish notability. There are others such as "believes Elvis is still alive" or "Still likes Oasis" that might notable enough to be squeezed into one cultural reference but it would be better to have a review backing up point as being particularly notable. -- Horkana (talk) 12:45, 20 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Barney has always had an issue with women in their 30s. This was shown previously in "Little Boys" and "Zoo or False." it is also mentioned in "slap bet", regarding the "oh moment" —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.178.17.80 (talk) 14:22, 20 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Barney is not very reliable. He is known to lie and exaggerate. Ultimately he will sleep with just any woman but I think it is more that he has a preference for woman no older than thirty, rather than specifically disliking women in their thirties. Sure he sometimes voices his appreciation for "MILFS" "cougars" and "mellencamps" but lets not read too much into it. I don't think the wording "issue with women in their 30s" is right and it was better to say Barney dislikes women over 30. Frankly this is a fairly poor continuity point and it would be better to expand the plot and maybe include the joke there, or leave it out entirely. -- Horkana (talk) 23:23, 20 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Strange coincidence, just the week before there was an episode of House titled "Baggage" -- Horkana (talk) 01:31, 21 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
