Plot summary

[edit]

This plot summary seems to be getting rather long and bulky. Censorious Minimus (talk) 19:07, 2 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You don't say. ;) 96.2.146.68 (talk) 20:15, 12 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
As of January 19, 2014:
The Amazing Spider-Man article is 58,094 bytes - that series ran for 50 years
Marvel Team-Up article is 38,584 bytes - that series ran for 13 years
The Spectacular Spider-Man article is 27,981 bytes - that series ran for 22 years
Web of Spider-Man article is 14,418 bytes - that series ran for 10 years
Is it really necessary for this article to be at 48,295 bytes? The series has only been published for a year and it's already larger than the articles for The Spectacular Spider-Man and Web of Spider-Man combined! 208.54.80.151 (talk) 01:44, 20 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Proposal to deal with bloat

[edit]

I’d like to propose that the current summaries for issues 22 and on be removed pending something more reasonable. —174.141.182.82 (talk) 22:31, 9 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, for the large text, but may I propose to just separate pages for The Superior Spider-Man (including all 3 volumes) and Spider-Man: Octopus Girl (or Octo-Girl per official English transation)? Yes, Doc Ock had many separate comic books all over the years and many of them is a part of the lineal (in terms of story progression, not convoluted plot in those books) Superior Spider-Man saga, but Vol.2 and Vol.3 was only 13 (+ the Superior Octopus) and 9 (+ the Superior Spider-Man Returns) issues. So, it just 55 issues in 10 years, and that's why current page should be shortened.
Doc Ock manga is a different case, because it is already has 29 chapters still ongoing, and 3 official japanese tankobon, which is almost the largest numbers of issues ANY Spider-Man manga had (excluding original manga from 1970-1971, but just by 3 issues). While it was positioned as a spin-off of Across the Spider-Verse it is soon became clear, that Ock manga has nothing to do with that film. Plot centered aroung Earth-616 Otto between Superior Vol.2 and Vol.3 and covers his overall history (his origin story, Sinister Six stories, even his short time as the Master Programmer), not just his time as the Superior Spider-Man or the Superior Octopus (it also refers to his dying time from 600 issue of Amazing, Ends of the Earth, Spider-Verse, Clone Conspiracy, Go Down Swinging and his Beyond story. While manga is heavily influenced by Superior, but mangaka has his own distinct vision of who Otto Octavius is. So, it's a big storyline, that deserves separate page. 176.59.147.221 (talk) 05:59, 1 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Support – would The Superior Spider-Man then be made a disambiguation index for the various different series and the character himself then? 103.231.90.234 (talk) 11:30, 11 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I believe that unnecessary. The Superior Spider-Man should be just one rewritten article, that covers all 3 volumes. Spider-Man: Octo-Girl should be separate article (now that it officially ending with 32 chapters). But I propose that Doc Ock character also needs a template, because he has plenty storylines (even more than the Green Goblin), solo books, supporting characters and alternative versions. That's very hard to cover in just one Doctor Octopus article. 91.149.70.236 (talk) 10:02, 27 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
