Unless I read a wholly different edition of the book, this appears to be a summary of the film, not the novel.
No one is killed by the Mayans at the beginning. Pablo falls down the mineshaft, Eric gets the plant in him, Amy is suffocated by the vine, Jeff is killed by Mayans trying to escape in the rainstorm, and Eric stabs Mathias after flaying himself. Stacy commits suicide at the foot of the hiil, and no one escapes. Smileyy (talk) 02:18, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
Plot
[edit]Plot is far too detailed and long, I'm in the process of summarizing it. Any help would be fantastic. DurinsBane87 (talk) 08:59, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
I agree, this must be the movie plot and not the book plot. Smiley has already noted the differences well. Endy9.
Someone messed this up. This appears to be a plot synopsis of the film, which is somewhat different from the novel. Furthermore it is wrong, for instance in the film Dimitri is killed, in the book no one is killed by the Mayans. But this article claims the character Pablo is killed. Someone fix this. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.22.84.93 (talk) 15:56, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
I just read the book but haven't seen the movie. I think the film/book problem has been solved, but the synopsis is still too long, probably. Kunderhill (talk) 00:16, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
It says the film was released in 2006 when it should be 2008. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 135.196.75.98 (talk) 10:51, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
I just watched the movie on HBO and the plot written here is completely wrong. It has the wrong character names for the events that take place in the film. In short, the whole synopsis explains the events incorrectly referencing the wrong characters to the events. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.74.217.43 (talk) 05:25, 17 July 2009 (UTC)
diff with movie
[edit]removed the statement that amy, who escapes, has the vine growing in her; just finished watching the movie on cable for the second time and there is no indication of this, although it could of course be possible, i think you're supposed to be left wondering. (hey, "The Ruins Two" anyone?) the article on the movies explains the two alternate endings on the dvd, and doesn't say that in the theatrical version she was infected. - Wouldn't that section be better in the movie article rather than here ? -- Beardo (talk) 04:48, 14 March 2009 (UTC)
Realness
[edit]What is "the second real novel by American author Scott Smith" supposed to mean? Has he written a fake novel or something? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.118.170.201 (talk) 03:46, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
