Conflict of interest

At least one major contributor to this article appears to have a close personal or professional connection to the topic, and thus to have a conflict of interest. Probation status

There is a current dispute about how much to cover the current probation status of the school in the article. My own view is that it is important and also important to list some of the major reasons and in particular the allegations that is might be in violation of three federal laws (Clery Act, FERPA, and Violence against Women Act) and the timeline (two years). Yes, this is critical information that should be included provided it's done so in a neutral manner and in keeping with its relevance and weight balanced against the rest of the article. ElKevbo (talk) 02:20, 7 September 2018 (UTC)
I agree entirely. It's much more encyclopedic than the lists of degrees is. Their website is where that belongs. Doug Weller talk 12:45, 7 September 2018 (UTC)
Indeed, this is important information, and ElKevbo is dead right that it must be presented in a neutral and balanced manner. However, I don't see that the current text meets either of those requirements. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 20:00, 7 September 2018 (UTC)
I've made some small changes, revert at will. I suggest that passages such as "... a climate of fear, intimidation, bullying, and uncertainty ..." should be quoted precisely from the source, and placed in quotation marks. These accusations should not be presented, even in reported speech, in the voice of Wikipedia. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 20:17, 7 September 2018 (UTC)
My name is Brian Harr and I'm the new Director of Communications at The Master's University. I want to thank you all very much for your input on this page. I think your comments and concerns are valid and are appreciated. It is important to list the major reasons why the university was placed on probation. It is also important to do so in a fair and neutral manner. Maintenance template removal

My name is Brian Harr and I'm the new Director of Communications at The Master's University.

Our University page on Wikipedia was being edited a couple months back by outside parties and someone from the university who didn't understand the Conflict of Interest rules at Wikipedia was correcting things they felt were edited in error or things that should have been said in a more fair manner. It appears that because the person correcting the errors was from the University that caused the maintenance template to appear at the top of our page, indicating self-pulbished sources. (For the record that person has been instructed to not edit this page any further)

I have vetted the page and all of the information is accurate.

I would like to request the template message be removed.

I do plan to suggest updates for the page but will do that with a new "Talk" section.

Beeharr The self-published sources template has been at the top of the article since February of 2017. Its addition and presence in the article has nothing to do with the fact that someone from the university was editing despite a conflict of interest. The person who added the template felt that article relied too heavily on information gained from the university's website, which is a self-published source. Our sourcing guideliens say that such sources can be used as sources about themselves so long as (among other things), "The article is not based primarily on such sources." Although 4 of the 16 sources currently cited in the article are from the university's website, they are all in one small section describing what degrees the university offers. The rest of the article is based on other sources. Therefore I'm removing it. ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 19:50, 16 November 2018 (UTC)

Weak Support - WP:THE indicates we should use it IF it's well-sourced and the primary way it's referred to. This page has very few external sources, do we have evidence this is the common name outside of internal releases? glman (talk) 13:18, 22 May 2024 (UTC)
Weak Support I echo the arguments of Glman. I have read external sources which call this "The Master's University" in passing as well as some articles critical of TMU using the. They're not the best examples, but they come from reliable places. (Christianity Today, The Roys Report) ❤HistoryTheorist❤ 23:45, 22 May 2024 (UTC)
Support — original move seems like a clear mistake to me, also anecdotally the one local I know calls it "TMU" or preserves the leading "The". Krinn DNZ (talk) 21:39, 31 May 2024 (UTC)

Why was the school put on probation??

There is no explanation for the fact that the school was put on probation for two whole years. From what I've heard, the reasons were serious. 47.138.88.67 (talk) 07:24, 1 December 2022 (UTC)
