Mercedes-Benz paragraph removed from Production section

[edit]

I removed the paragraph above because it seems to be too much like an ad and the reference was no longer valid. Jason Quinn (talk) 13:22, 14 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

list of dinos

[edit]

There should be a list of the dinos that appear in it!--219.89.212.119 (talk) 04:55, 2 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No, there shouldn't. Such a list is pointless and trivial. Relevant creatures are already noted in the plot. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 07:10, 2 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

the ingen capture list is not in the plot — Preceding unsigned comment added by 154.20.247.129 (talk) 16:00, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

list was deleted -- 109.76.24.249 (talk) 15:09, 7 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The list reappeared. I removed it again. HollywoodCowboy (talk) 19:06, 26 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

why Dr. Malcolm has a black daughter?--80.141.223.214 (talk) 18:40, 1 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Uh, well, it is scientifically possible. Life finds a way. WHPratt (talk) 02:54, 27 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It was a deliberate decision. Spielberg had seen the actress previously and told her he'd put her in a movie some day. So the character who combined two children from the novel-one a black male and the other a white female-was written as a black girl and Malcolm's daughter. In my opinion, it would have been better to have used Crichton's characters, but it is what it is.TheBaron0530 (talk) 21:12, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Global Box office ?

[edit]

According to The Numbers, the Worldwide Box Office where $786,6 millions[1]. That's over $150 millions more than the figures that IMDb and BoxOfficeMojo opperates with. Does anyone know whats the cause of this significant difference ?--Ezzex (talk) 14:48, 12 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Unrealistic setting

[edit]

Isla Sorna is a tropical island, yet the vegetation shown in the movie is more typical of a redwood forest, like in Northern California. Any particular thoughts of where this comment could be included in this article? Pazvilre (talk) 16:51, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

In the novel, Crichton writes that the altitude of the mountains on the islands, combined with the Pacific weather, combine to produce varied climate zones, from tropical to northern temperate forest. But yeah, I'm not sure that's described explicitly in the movie.TheBaron0530 (talk) 21:15, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Minor roles in lead section

[edit]

This recent edit introduced Joseph Mazzelo and Ariana Richards to the lead section, despite their small roles in the film. They have no impact on the plot and the article only mentions them in the cast section. This doesn't seem like lead-worthy material. I'm curious what others think.  AJFU  (talk) 18:39, 26 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Are they on the poster's billing block? NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 02:17, 27 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No, as seen here.  AJFU  (talk) 13:20, 27 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If they're not on the poster and don't have a major impact on the plot, they probably shouldn't be mentioned in the lead. I get that fans want to use Wikipedia to document various facts about their favorite films, but you have to draw the "that's trivia" line somewhere. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 03:09, 28 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
 Done. GSK (talkedits) 03:41, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If an actor from the first is back then they should be mentioned. It's been like that on wikipedia all the time if you type a sequel to a specific film.Cosmic2992 (talk)
For major actors, yes, but Richards and Mazzello have a handful of lines and do nothing of importance during their one-minute appearance. What other articles include such minor roles in the lead? Merely returning from a previous movie is not enough to merit inclusion, not when such actors/characters have no impact on the film.  AJFU  (talk) 15:09, 11 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The plot section needs syntactic improvement

[edit]

I added several improvements which were fairly removed as the total word count exceeded 700-750 by the end. Though, the plot section (especially the second half) is poorly written and doesn't accurately convey the plot in a concise and meaningful way. I tried to address this, as well as expanding the plot section to more clearly describe events. I suggest that the current plot section is addressed in some way. No mention of the old Pontiac (that helps save the day!) yet SUV is raved over?

[edit]

Why is there no mention of the 1969 Pontiac Custom S convertible in this movie? Major emphasis is made on the foo-foo SUV, yet the car that truly saves the day is completely ignored? Harrrumph! Shumm Ditt (talk) 14:46, 20 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
