Split article: list of prominent alumni

[edit]

The list of alumni is far too long to be part of this same article. It would be better to create a new separate article to list all the prominent alumni, move all the listed people from this article, and create an interwiki link between the two. There may also be the possibility of keeping a few very select names on the main article, however, to do that we would need some clear criteria. Any ideas? As an update to the above, there is already an existing separate article of Fletcher alumni: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Fletcher_School_of_Law_and_Diplomacy_alumni . I think the list from this article should be merged into the one of the separate article. (talk) user:Al83tito 20:27, 16 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I just merged all the names into the separate article, and deleted them in this article. Both articles are linked to each other.(talk) user:Al83tito 4:27, 15 November 2013 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:FFlag.jpg

[edit]

Image:FFlag.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Possible vandalism on motto?

[edit]

As of 12:43 EST, 11/1/2008, motto reads "We value [forte (music)]". Do not know what Fletcher's motto is, but I"m almost positive that that's not it. Elakhna —Preceding undated comment was added at 16:44, 1 November 2008 (UTC).[reply]

Fletcher not a law school?

[edit]

Why is Fletcher not a law school when the name of the institution is: Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.81.233.92 (talk) October 2, 2009

It's a law school in the sense that it teaches law there; but it's not a law school in the sense of conferring a law degree that enables the degree holder to practice law in most (any?) jurisdictions. TJRC (talk) 22:19, 2 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Notable faculty

[edit]

We should determine whether the notable faculty section should only include current faculty members or not. Any thoughts? (talk) user:Al83tito 18:37, 14 Jan 2015 (UTC)

Merger proposal

[edit]

I propose that The Fares Center for Eastern Mediterranean Studies be merged into this article. It isn't notable in its own right, per WP:GNG, but is probably worthy of a section in this article. Joseph2302 (talk) 15:56, 15 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Pinging @Megatetraocta: over this suggestion. The current sourcing of this article is a little weak, so supporting this merge preliminarily. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 19:45, 15 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Gradually developing the article, ensuring that all Wikipedia protocols are complied with. It will be better sourced within 24 hours. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Megatetraocta (talkcontribs) 19:51, 15 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I am also working on drafting a much better article on the Fares Center. I think that in a few days we'll have a much more substantive article, and there won't be a need for merger. I have a list of about 20 different sources I am working on for this article.(talk) user:Al83tito 1:34, 16 June 2015 (UTC)
I had previously entered a comment, but I had done so confusingly. Let me start over. Now the The Fares Center for Eastern Mediterranean Studies is more extensive and sourced. I think it can remain as a stand-alone entry in Wikipedia. So I propose, given the change in the article, to not merge into this one. Also, I am aiming to make some improvements to it in the coming days or weeks. (talk) user:Al83tito 14:25, 16 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The article is more explanatory and is much better sourced now as compared to before. I agree that it can stand alone similar to pages of other university centers. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Megatetraocta (talkcontribs) 14:39, 16 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with Megatetraocta that the article on The Fares Center for Eastern Mediterranean Studies is much better sourced and can stand alone. Someone should consider closing this merger discussion and removing the merge tag on the article page. - tucoxn\talk 01:00, 17 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Unless there is any further deliberation on the issue, we seem to agree to close the merger discussion. If no one else chimes in today, I will proceed to remove the merger template tags. Thanks. (talk) Al83tito 05:08, 18 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Per deliberations above, I have now just proceeded to remove the merger template from both pages. (talk) Al83tito 14:24, 19 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
