[edit]how much text can be included without a copyright violation?
In a 2008 interview called “Faking the Hood,” Ishmael Reed – that consummate intellectual maverick who grew up in Buffalo’s former Talbert Mall ...unhappily characterized Simon’s series as “all about black degenerates selling drugs,” etc. That Simon show on HBO, said Reed, was “a piece of crap.” To Reed, what Simon has painted on television is a “Neo-Nazi portrait of black people.” — Preceding unsigned comment added by Scranton (talk • contribs) 13:06, 22 June 2022 (UTC)
- I was in the midst of copyeditng that section until I realized these criticisms are toward the book (not the miniseries) and The Wire. Reed saying "all about black degenerates selling drugs" was said in 1997 before the miniseries came out and the other two quotes are in regard to The Wire. To answer your question, you can't just copy text directly from the source used. Text like
"that consummate intellectual maverick who grew up in Buffalo’s former Talbert Mall"
is not appropriate to use. You should also link Ishmael Reed because he has a Wikipedia article and it gives context to why his opinion would be notable to add. But again, none of these quotes/criticisms are directly related to the miniseries The Corner, but other works. Drovethrughosts (talk) 13:16, 22 June 2022 (UTC)
