Cannon Films' Last Film

[edit]

Patrick Runkle writes: I run the cannonfilms.com appreciation site ... I did some editing to this page, but one of the big topics that is still unclear is the exact disposition of Yoram Globus and Cannon immediately after the Cannon bankruptcy in 1989. There should be some primary source that would resolve this question once and for all, but I am unable to find it. I once got a tip that Cannon became "Pathe Communications" and was somehow folded into MGM, with production continuing under former Cannon exec Christopher Pearce. Because Lambada: Set the Night on Fire was a Globus production that appeared under the Cannon banner, it's fair to say that Globus was still involved somehow for at least several years after Golan left. But I'm uncertain that Globus actually became head of MGM after Cannon's bankruptcy, as stated on the main page. Italian financier Giancarlo Peretti, who got into legal trouble over some parts of his MGM deal, was also involved.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 141.158.182.254 (talk) 20:22, 6 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If you do anymore editing you might want to start by proofreading what's already here. It's a mess.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.221.88.129 (talk) 00:46, 29 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This section needs cleanup - right now it is heavily biased and should be noted as such. (9/28/06)—Preceding unsigned comment added by Shehn (talk) • contribs) 17:47, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's not biased at all. Sounds like we have a troll here.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.221.88.129 (talk) 00:46, 29 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Some of this is way too convoluted and complicated if anyone needs help with reliable info go to the following link [1][2] because this article needs a series rewrite. Dwanyewest (talk) 01:59, 28 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The Cannon Group, Inc.

[edit]

It is improper per WP:NCCORP to add "Inc." or other legal status suffix of a company in the article name. Nor is "The" general included. Spshu (talk) 13:22, 31 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You raise a valid point which should be discussed at Talk:The Cannon Group, Inc. Upon moving The Cannon Group to The Cannon Group, Inc., I entered the following edit summary, "enhanced main title header will display company name as it appears on-screen at the start of the opening credits of films produced by the company". Although an illustration of the company logo, depicting the single word, CANNON, is appended to the article, it may be compared to such single words as DISNEY, PARAMOUNT or COLUMBIA, which are one-word identifiers for those entities. In the case at hand, the on-screen appellation for this production company is The Cannon Group, Inc.. Many of these films' opening credits may be found online, including, most obviously, on YouTube. One example of the opening "the Cannon Group, Inc. presents" is here. —Roman Spinner (talk)(contribs) 19:24, 31 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
After taking another look at the link I provided immediately above, it would seem that the most appropriate main title header should be Cannon Group, Inc. The prefix "the" and the suffix "presents" are in lowercase and only the key words are in large lettering. —Roman Spinner (talk)(contribs) 00:13, 1 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Seriously, PLEASE REVERT this page back to the way it was before Trivialist destroyed it! I ADDED "Citation needed" tags on the dang unsourced content about Cannon's library, RIGHT over here! 188.162.166.156 (talk) 21:23, 4 September 2016 (UTC) 188.162.166.156 (talk) 21:23, 4 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{edit protected}} template.
Note: I tagged the user in question so they can give feedback on this request -- Dane2007 talk 02:24, 5 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • You need to add the "Ownership of the Cannon Group, Inc. library" section back and put "Citation needed" tags in it. There's no reason for Trivialist to remove it other than the fact he thinks it's unsourced. Please? 69.133.50.216 (talk) 04:48, 6 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Not done as WP:BURDEN "The burden to demonstrate verifiability lies with the editor who adds or restores material" so it won't be restored without a WP:RS - Arjayay (talk) 07:35, 6 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Highlander?

[edit]

Why is Highlander not mentioned in the article? Visokor (talk) 17:47, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Because it wasn't made by Cannon. They were merely involved in the VHS release. LordApofisu (talk) 23:24, 22 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
