Some plot clarification needed

As of now, the article says:

...Dr. Lavendar forces her to give up her son. Helena agrees, certain that she is an unfit mother. Helena pleads her case and fights for her maternal rights.

Don't the second and third sentences in the quote contradict each other? Is there some information missing? What is behind the apparent contradiction? Was there an interval in which she changed her mind? Johanna-Hypatia (talk) 20:33, 24 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
