Supercentenarians

[edit]

Why is she not on the list of living supercentenarians? Has her age not been confirmed? -Lasunncty 22:33, 9 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

She was not added into the abovementioned list as I (& incl. those who make some later edits) do not have any prior knowledge of its existence in the first place. Her age & DOB is officially mentioned in The Straits Times on numerous occasions as cited in the "References" section where many of the sources of this article were based upon. -- Aldwinteo 01:56, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Date of birth

[edit]

Seems rather spurious... According to the 23 December 1999 The Straits Times article "A century old in new millennium" by Tan Suan Ann, Hsu "cannot even remember her exact birthday." I'm not able to access the 2007 article that's currently being used as a citation for her supposed DOB, but I doubt anyone 8 years later would have been able to reliably provide an exact DOB -- and it would be equally doubtful if the info came from Hsu herself, since she couldn't remember 8 years ago! All told, I think it might be prudent to further emphasise the fact that her birthdate, as the opening section concedes, has never been independently verified.
