[edit]A very good example of this unit would be the meteor impact that killed the dinosaurs 65 million years ago.
From a quick search online, the energy of the explosion was 100 teratons.
This would obviously be 100 million megatons.
I couldn't find a good scientific explanation of how this number was determined, though.
