I like to review the term techno (as synthpop or technopop) was used, at least, in Spain, as you can tell in The Residents concert (1983) in Spanish Tv programme "La edad de oro" where a man from audience talk about tecno as music style. It helps to understand that synthpop was another name for the style not the main one
