TheGrio quote
[edit]Hi all,
Can someone kindly remove the reference #2 from the references list and its quote from the Early Life section? I'm seeing it cause a lot of mixed feelings and controversy and to avoid the page continuously getting locked can it be removed? It doesn't add a whole lot to her Early Life section anyway and there is other sourced content there so it isn't need. I've read recently that she regrets saying that as well because she doesn't feel that way anymore, so it is causing misunderstanding and confusion.
To whoever removes it thank you. Filmish (talk) 01:02, 6 November 2022 (UTC)
- What is your source for "she doesnt feel that way anymore"? And you are the only one who seems to have confusion on the subject and there is no "misunderstanding". It is different than the other content and adds more info about her childhood and how she felt growing up. Why are you so intent on removing this? Since you have been repeatedly reverted by multiple editors, you really need to establish consensus for this edit. Spanneraol (talk) 01:34, 6 November 2022 (UTC)
- In this Vanity Fair Italia spread she responds to the statement by the interviewer "Her father is African American, her mother is white. She has said that she grew up not black enough for blacks and white enough for whites. However, she was always different."
- by saying "thinking about it now it's all different. In childhood and adolescence I moved so much, from city to city, and I think it was normal to feel isolated. Maybe all children feel this way, but it was normal for me. " She realizes now it was because she was always moving and doesn't feel like placing blame on anyone anymore so the quote should to be removed as it is not representative of her anymore. Here is the link to the article: https://www.vanityfair.it/article/taylor-russell-bones-and-all-film-luca-guadagnino . Filmish (talk) 15:17, 8 November 2022 (UTC)
- Are you going to ignore this? Filmish (talk) 04:56, 9 November 2022 (UTC)
- You skip over the "yes, it's true" part... and she was never placing blame on anyone, she was just talking about how she felt... which is still relevant ... it is still how she felt when she was young. Spanneraol (talk) 05:40, 9 November 2022 (UTC)
- She is saying "yes its true" that she's said that before but that "thinking about it now it's all different." She acknowledges that its normal to feel isolated when you're a child even if that's not the case. This is more than enough proof that the quote is not representative of her anymore. You can mention her feeling isolated as a child due to moving, but leaving this quote up without any of the above information is misleading. And makes people think she still feels that way. There is so much information on her her life growing up why is quote being there so important to you? It is bringing the actress hate online.
- That is my concern and it is genuine. Filmish (talk) 05:55, 9 November 2022 (UTC)
- The quote is about how she felt as a child, not about how she feels today and that is clear so it's not at all misleading... it isn't bringing her any "hate" online.. why would anyone hate her for talking about how she felt as a child? Spanneraol (talk) 07:02, 9 November 2022 (UTC)
- It is bringing her hate online. People are calling her anti-black based on that quote and saying she doesn't like Black women because of it even though in the actual article she talks about how inspired she is by them. But people won't read the whole thing, they just read her wikipedia page and jump to that conclusion. It is the only thing people are hating on her for so please remove it. If I could send you the hate she's getting about it I would. She already has a hate account dedicated to her that keeps posting about it in a negative way. Filmish (talk) 15:41, 9 November 2022 (UTC)
- Please do not ignore this. Filmish (talk) 23:44, 9 November 2022 (UTC)
- What people? How do you know? And why do we need to change things based on a handful of idiots on social media? We are an encyclopeia not a blog. Spanneraol (talk) 23:53, 9 November 2022 (UTC)
- I know because I am active on social media and I see the hate first hand and have tried to stop it but you know how people are. And the reason for changing things is to prevent unnecessary hate on an actress who truly doesn't deserve it. I know you don't see anything wrong with the quote and thank you for that, but many other people do. I have a lot more information on her childhood I would like to add if you'd let me. Filmish (talk) 01:07, 10 November 2022 (UTC)
- I really feel like you are a nice person so I'm asking genuinely. Filmish (talk) 01:10, 10 November 2022 (UTC)
- Do you know how to delete it? Filmish (talk) 01:08, 10 November 2022 (UTC)
- After this I'm done making edits on this page. This is all that I ask. Filmish (talk) 01:11, 10 November 2022 (UTC)
- Hello? Filmish (talk) 20:06, 10 November 2022 (UTC)
- Please do not ignore this. Filmish (talk) 22:04, 10 November 2022 (UTC)
- I'm not ignoring it, i've been busy today. Again, I don't see why this would lead to her getting "hate" as nothing she said is mean or deserving of such. That said, we can't delete stuff just cause of what people on social media are saying.. as it is part of her history and we are an encyclopedia. I am willing to consider alternate language that adds something along like the lines of "later in life she realized..." or something like that citing the other source. If you have reliable sources for the additional info you want to add then we can rewrite the section to include more context or info.. but I really don't think we should delete it altogether. Spanneraol (talk) 23:07, 10 November 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you and I am appreciative of that but unfortunately it won't help. I understand that this is an encyclopedia and I want to respect that, but when I go to other celebrities' bios, who I know have said something similar in the past, it is not listed. Zoe Kravitz has said similar sentiments, but that is not shown on her profile. If I send you the other sourced material on her childhood can that replace the quote? This is the only thing I ask. Filmish (talk) 03:28, 11 November 2022 (UTC)
- If you are going to apply the fact that this is an encyclopedia and every part of someone's history has to be included you need to apply that to every celebrity. Not just Taylor Russell. Filmish (talk) 03:31, 11 November 2022 (UTC)
- I actually think I resolved it. I made a new edit, please let me know if that is okay. Filmish (talk) 06:54, 11 November 2022 (UTC)
- I can live with that. Spanneraol (talk) 16:12, 11 November 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you so much truly😭. Filmish (talk) 18:37, 11 November 2022 (UTC)
- Should I remove this chat since it's resolved? Filmish (talk) 18:38, 11 November 2022 (UTC)
- No, we need to leave the chat so there is a record of the conversation. In the future, remember that discussions are more productive than edit warring. Spanneraol (talk) 19:45, 11 November 2022 (UTC)
- Okay thank you. 2601:14D:8B80:1E50:E186:22A1:7746:897C (talk) 20:44, 11 November 2022 (UTC)

Personal life addition
[edit]There seems to be back and forth about adding to Taylor's personal life section, more specifically about Taylor's relationship with Harry Styles. They have been dating for around a year and multiple users have provided sources for this fact yet this seems to be removed every time? This has not been editorialised. I am concerned that this has been brigaded by conspiracy theorists who believe in the Larry Stylinson ship and therefore refuse to allow this to be added. Can this be resolved? Bloopyfloop (talk) 11:01, 3 May 2024 (UTC)
- This seems to be consistently removed by one user in particular who is being combative and unreasonable with the control over the page. Bloopyfloop (talk) 10:51, 4 May 2024 (UTC)
- Seems to be just gossip atm. "Biographies of living persons ("BLPs") must be written conservatively and with regard for the subject's privacy. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a tabloid: it is not Wikipedia's job to be sensationalist, or to be the primary vehicle for the spread of titillating claims about people's lives." Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 13:29, 4 May 2024 (UTC)
- Same for this page admin. Multiple long standing wiki members have retracted her amendments inclusive of myself. It is mostly tabloid conjecture. Bettyboots12368 (talk) 09:05, 5 May 2024 (UTC)
- You are not a "page admin". There is no such position in Wikipedia. There are admins, but you are not one. Meters (talk) 09:31, 5 May 2024 (UTC)
- I never said i was one. I said the person above is a page admin. Read properly and grow up you weird person. Bettyboots12368 (talk) 13:52, 5 May 2024 (UTC)

- I completely respect not wanting to add conjecture/gossip but multiple legitimate sources which have been cited across other pages for similar celebrities have referenced the relationship (like People, Vogue, GQ, Vanity Fair etc) which have all been removed. On Styles own page these sources are used to cite his relationships. Bloopyfloop (talk) 11:19, 5 May 2024 (UTC)
- You actually are getting out of hand attempting to state that im attacking other users. Youre the one being abrasive youre the one being combative and youre the one not listening to any reason. If multiple long standing admins alongside myself have told you to stop what youre doing then take the hint. Youre behaving very improperly and no those websites are not sufficient. Those same tabloids printed similar content about emrata and other individuals. They are only used to site his relationships if at least one party has addressed they are in a relationship. Get a life and stop acting like a spoilt child. Bettyboots12368 (talk) 13:50, 5 May 2024 (UTC)
- And further those tabloids are only cited if he has said something directly himself. Bettyboots12368 (talk) 13:51, 5 May 2024 (UTC)

Again, you are not an admin. Stop implying that you are. Meters (talk) 20:48, 5 May 2024 (UTC)

Biography profile picture
[edit]We found a better photo of Taylor Russell to use for her profile as we believe the current picture does not accurately represent her. We would like it changed to either: Taylor Russell Venice Film Festival 2024.jpg OR Taylor Russell jury Venice Film Festival 2024.jpg Sharpeye11 (talk) 01:34, 24 September 2024 (UTC)
