Name of page
[edit]This page was called 'Tanzania Zambia Railway Authority' but it is a general article on the railway not a specialised article on the Authority. Most people these days would look it up as 'Tazara Railway', and it is also referred to as 'Tanzam Railway' like the Tanzam Highway. However, 'Tazara Railway' is becoming the accepted one, and I have changed it to that.Rexparry sydney 05:30, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
To say that the loading gauge in the tunnels is restricted is meaningless unless it is smaller (or less) than that of the other 42 gauge railways to which it is connected. If it be equal to the loading gauge of the others, the statement would be meaningless. Please clarify. Peter Horn 16:07, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
What is "final altitude"?
[edit]"Total length is 1,860 km and the final altitude is 1,400 m."
Is the "final altitude" the altitude at one end of the line? If so, which? Or is it the highest (or lowest) point on the line? If it's the altitude at one end of the line, why is it significant? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.234.220.195 (talk) 16:00, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
Work plan for edition
[edit] The origin of the Tanzara Railway can be traced back to Cecil Rhodes and his vision of a trans-continent railway linking the Cape to Cairo. But, in the “origins of the project” section, nothing about this is ever mentioned.
In the “political significance” section, the article talks a lot about the railway’s political significance for the African countries, but barely mentions the Chinese side, especially the motivations and calculations behind the Chinese move.
In the “construction” section, I would like to mention the great sacrifice that the Chinese workers made in constructing the railway which is obviously underestimated in the article.
Also, I will create a new section to lard the article with anecdotes. There are many interesting and educational stories about the Tanzara railway. I would like to introduce these stories to the readers.
In “External links”, one link to a book is not functioning. I will sort out a new list of external links which will be helpful for these who wants to know more about the railway.
In addition, I will also add hyperlinks to other key terms of article.
