The result of the move request was: No consensus. I will move this to Isaiah Swerve Scott, which was agreed to be an improvement over the current title. However, his career is evolving and other viable alternatives such as Shane Strickland have been proposed, and can be tested in a future RM. No such user (talk) 08:26, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Isaiah "Swerve" ScottIsaiah Scott – Per WP:NICKNAME. Note similar examples like Jake Roberts or Brutus Beefcake where the nickname is dropped for the article title. Isaiah Scott is currently a primary redirect to Isaiah Benjamin Scott, but per pageviews [1], it is not justified. 162 etc. (talk) 22:11, 4 January 2022 (UTC)— Relisting. Coffee // have a ☕️ // beans // 23:04, 13 January 2022 (UTC)— Relisting. Coffee // have a ☕️ // beans // 05:34, 26 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Another fun fact is that Stone Cold Steve Austin doesn't need the disambiguation, Steve Austin has been a primary redirect to that article since 2013. An RM around the same time failed to gain consensus for moving the article to Steve Austin, but there's a strong case to be made for that. 162 etc. (talk) 18:50, 9 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    • Third Comment, would 100% agree with this. Would not agree with him even retaining Isaiah Scott at the moment as he was only in WWE or 2 years. His no-compete is now up and he now clearly is not retaining the Isaiah Scott gimmick (WWE Will own the name), so its now just a matter going forward if he is going to stick with this new "swerve the realist" which is nonsense frankly, or reverts to Shane Strickland. Wrestling Observer today are already referring to him by his indie name and no longer his WWE name. Dimspace (talk) 00:31, 19 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Comment As I said, the situation evolves. Why Sw3rve or Swerve? Despite it's the name he currently uses it's not stablished enough for the commonname, since he used Strikland for a longest period and Isaiah had more exposition. Despite it's the current name, there is no point to change the article to an obscure name. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 08:54, 20 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

He is reportedly signing with AEW

[edit]

Though it is reported by some reliable sources.[4]. However, I still want consensus on whether or not to include it in the .2601:447:4000:220:B95F:8E88:DF2D:4CC1 (talk) 23:53, 4 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Rumours are not generally encyclopedic. The article can be updated if he is actually signed by AEW. 162 etc. (talk) 17:45, 5 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
WP:RUMOUR – we dont report this sort of thing until he actually signs. — Czello 17:51, 5 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Similar to Shane mcmahon. Fightful, a reliable source, confirmed he signed. Say that reports states that he signed. Wp:independentsource. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 18:47, 5 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

And again, reliable source gives information but it's used as a rumor... --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 15:06, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Change page title to Swerve Strickland

[edit]

Stephon Strickland no longer works for WWE, and so, is no longer using the 'Isaiah Swerve Scott' moniker, which WWE owns the copyright ot for its exclusive use. Therefore, the page title is out-of-date.

It would be a disingenious argument in my view to say that 'Isaiah Serve Scott' is the name that he is best-known by too because WWE is supposedly the best-known professional wrestling promotion.

Meanwhile, Stephon Strickland used some version of the moniker 'Swerve Strickland' both before and after his time with WWE - 'Shane Strickland' or 'Shane "Swerve" Strickland' - and he has been referred to by both names in AEW, another widely-known professional wrestling promotion that, like WWE, has international broadcast deals in place, as well as New Japan and other professional wrestling promotions.

Therefore, it would make sense to change the page title to 'Swerve Strickland' as that is the moniker, or versions of it, that he is known by professionally now in multiple professional wrestling promotions.

Year of birth
