Sunny Deol's real mother is alive - Smt. Prakash Kaur, and his father don't give divorce to her real mother either. Would be great if you could update it. 117.196.199.106 (talk) 16:42, 23 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Full Name

[edit]

@Dympies: Is the news source for the full name more reliable than the affidavit [1]. I don't think it is. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 11:29, 15 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Fylindfotberserk, myneta.info isn't a reliable source. Dympies (talk) 11:31, 15 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Dympies: A lot of times scanned copies of candidate affidavits are posted in it, so not exactly non-RS. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 11:34, 15 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia policy against Defaming Living persons (WP:BLP)

[edit]

Please note that this article must adhere to the biographies of living persons (BLP) policy, even if it is not a biography, because it contains material about living persons. Contentious material about living persons that is unsourced or poorly sourced must be removed immediately from the article and its talk page, especially if potentially libellous.RogerYg (talk) 04:14, 3 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It is crucial that all Wiki editors note that Wiki is NOT NEWS and be aware of WP:BLP (before putting negative News material on Wiki pages) RogerYg (talk) 04:16, 3 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Relevant sections of WP:BLP are quoted below
  1. WP:BLP:Such material requires a high degree of sensitivity, and must adhere strictly to all applicable laws in the United States, to this policy, and to Wikipedia's three core content policies: Neutral point of view (NPOV), Verifiability (V), & No original research (NOR). Contentious material about living persons that is unsourced or poorly sourced—whether the material is negative, positive, neutral, or just questionable—must be removed immediately and without waiting for discussion

Religion

[edit]

It is CTOPS to mention religion, either Sikh or Hindu, since there are sources mentioning both. This one for example, mentions "Punjabi Jat Hindu". - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 12:37, 8 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It's the only such source and might thus be an error, there are many other academic sources confirming his Sikh heritage. Metamentalist (talk) 18:40, 8 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Metamentalist: News portal photo-montages are not as reliable as interviews and affidavits. Besides, you've added a source talking about the subject's father, and not him. Also the source mentions Dharmendra's father's name as "Kewal Kishan Singh Deol" which is incorrect, hence proves my point. There is no "Singh" in his name per the affidavit [2]. Anyway mentioning religion is contentious, so better not to mention it. Pinging@Dympies:. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 18:52, 8 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
In this interview source, the subject's father says, "I am a Hindu. The question of my having ever changed religion does not exist.". Also wearing "Sikh symbols" (as you've put in the edit summary) doesn't mean much. Firstly, he has played Sikh characters in films, secondly a lot of Sikhs and Hindus wear symbols of each other's faiths. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 19:13, 8 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've tried to look for different sources and I now tend to agree with you, there's no self identification as "Sikh" from any of the 3 Deol actors, sorry for misunderstanding your point, I've also retired the "Sikh" reference from Bobby Deol's page, thanks for your clarifications. Metamentalist (talk) 20:40, 8 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Metamentalist: No probs. You are welcome. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 21:00, 8 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
