Subcooled rocket fuel

[edit]

The article Raptor (rocket engine family) contains the following link: [[subcooling|densified]]

So it would be nice if the Subcooling article explained why "densified" is equivalent to subcooling, and why this is an advantage for rocket fuel. 199.46.251.144 (talk) 01:50, 4 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Subcooled vapor

[edit]

Subcooling can also apparently mean a gas that has been cooled to below its boiling point. It's related to supersaturation and the Van der Waals equation. -- Beland (talk) 03:12, 23 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong definition

[edit]

The first sentence should bne changed to "The term subcooling (also called undercooling) refers to a liquid existing in vapor form at a temperature below its normal boiling point."

A liquid below the boiling point is just a liquid.

[edit]

The article should link to metastability for a general treatment of metastable systems.
