Departments
[edit]I did some editing to the Dept of Music mention; much too POV, and still not quite right. Also, there is no reason for that department to be singled out, and we should work on creating brief mention of all Steinhardt departments. --mtz206 (talk) 12:31, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Steinhardt logo.jpg
[edit]Image:Steinhardt logo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Steinhardt School name
[edit]In reading the wikipedia selection about culture and media critic Neil Postman, I was struck by the fact that it mentions that Postman founded a graduate program in media ecology at the Steinhardt school. As the wikipedia selection on Steinhardt School mentions, no such name existed before 2001. I attended NYU in the early 80's when it was called SEHNAP, the School of Education, Health, Nursing and Arts Professions. I find it Orwellian that no previous names of the school were mentioned. It sounds corporate: imagine if the company Blackwater never existed and it was always known as Xe; or if Philip Morris Tobacco had always been known as Altria. Very Creepy. Update duplicate Music Department listing under Academics with Art Department
[edit]This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest was declined. The requested text's references are not formatted according to the citation style predominantly in use with the subject article (WP:CITEVAR). Additions made to the article ought to have references formatted according to the style already in use with the article. Please see the Reply section below for more information about this issue. |
Information to be added or removed: 1) Need to replace "Department of Music and Performing Art Professions" with "Department of Art and Art Professions", as there are 11 academic departments at NYU Steinhardt[1], one of which is Art. 2) The description under "Department of Music and Performing Art Professions", "Dance Education, Educational Theatre, Music Education, Instrumental Performance, Vocal Performance, Music Composition, Music Business, Music Technology, Music Therapy, Drama Therapy, and Performing Arts Administration." should be replaced with "BFA and MFA programs in studio art are interdisciplinary, and combine cultural theory courses with facilities in painting, printmaking, sculpture, photography, computer art and design, video, ceramics, metalsmithing, and installation. The department’s MA programs include Art + Education, Visual Arts Administration, Costume Studies, and Art Therapy."[2]
Explanation of issue: Under "Academics" there are two entries for department of music: "Department of Music and Performing Art Professions" and "Department of Music and Performing Arts Professions". One of them should be "Department of Art and Art Professions"[3]
References supporting change: NYU Steinhardt has 11 departments: https://steinhardt.nyu.edu/departments, one of which is Art: https://steinhardt.nyu.edu/art, and the description is found on its About page: https://steinhardt.nyu.edu/art/about Mo294 (talk) 16:00, 17 October 2018 (UTC)

[edit] Unable to review edit request
Your edit request could not be reviewed because the provided references are not formatted correctly. The citation style predominantly used by the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development article is Citation Style 1. The citation style used in the edit request consists of bare URL's.[a] Any requested edit of yours which may be implemented will need to resemble the current style already in use in the article – in this case, CS1 (See WP:CITEVAR). Owing to the volunteer nature of Wikipedia, COI edit requests such as yours are generally expected to have this formatting done before the request is submitted for review. In the extended section below titled Citation Style, I have illustrated two examples: one showing how the edit request was submitted, and another showing how requests should be submitted in the future:
Citation Style
|
---|
In the example above there are three URL's provided with the claim statements, but similar to your edit request, these URL's have not been placed using Citation Style 1, which is the style predominantly used by the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development article. Using this style, the WikiFormatted text would resemble the following:
In the example above the references have been formatted according to Citation Style 1, which shows the author, the source's name, date, etc., all information which is lost when only the links are provided. As I indicated above, since Wikipedia is a volunteer project, edit requests such yours are generally expected to have this formatting done before the request is submitted for review. |
Kindly rewrite your edit request so that it aligns more with the second example shown in the collapsed section above, and feel free to re-submit that edit request at your earliest convenience.[b] If you have any questions about this formatting please don't hesitate to ask myself or another editor.
