The result of the move request was: no consensus. Jenks24 (talk) 10:36, 14 June 2014 (UTC)
Stanley, Wisconsin → Stanley, Chippewa County, Wisconsin – While this city appears slightly more prominent than Stanley, Barron County, Wisconsin, I wouldn't say it's a WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. Stanley, Clark County, Winsconsin can be a redirect, but I think the proposed name is simplest, given the majority of the city is in Chippewa. --Relisted. - Opposed Stanley, Wisconsin is located in two different Wisconsin counties-Chippewa and Clark so the proposed move would have an inaccurate title. The category-People from Stanley, Wisconsin is directly link to the People from Chippewa County, Wisconsin and People from Clark County, Wisconsin categories. You also have to take into account the name convention format. This would be confusing to the reader. Thank you-RFD (talk) 11:29, 29 May 2014 (UTC)
- Note-I checked the Stanley, Wisconsin website: Stanley, Wisconsin. The website lists Stanley, Wisconsin being in Chippewa and Clark Counties, Thanks-RFD (talk) 13:37, 29 May 2014 (UTC)
- Another option would be moving to Stanley, Wisconsin (city) and Stanley, Barron County, Wisconsin to Stanley, Wisconsin (town). Not the most recognizable titles, but we could mention the counties on a dab page. --BDD (talk) 18:53, 4 June 2014 (UTC)
- Oppose The city appears to be the primary topic, or at least close to it; all of the Google results for "Stanley, Wisconsin" point to the city, the city has the Stanley post office, the city article gets about 5x more hits according to stats.grok.se (admittedly this is partially because of the name, but it's still a huge discrepancy), and cities in Wisconsin are generally more recognizable than towns (as Wisconsin towns are the equivalent of townships in other states). Given that moving the title is going to lead to a complicated disambiguation issue no matter what, I think it's simplest to just leave the titles as they are. (The second-best option would be to move the articles to Stanley (city), Wisconsin and Stanley (town), Wisconsin, which is already the established convention for same-named towns and small villages in the same county.) - Comment - (city) and (town) are unacceptable disambiguators in my opinion. In a lot of US States, there is zero distinction between the two (aside from what a city chooses to call itself) so many of our readers won't really see that as a difference. Ego White Tray (talk) 18:48, 6 June 2014 (UTC)
