History pre-Zulu
[edit]Somebody needs to add some history before the Zulu wars. In particular, some details on the histories of the two Staffordshire regiments (North and South), including their designations and their military deployments. For example, this regiment (or rather, one of its predecessors) was involved in the American Revolutionary War. Rocinante9x 19:09, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
Separate pages now exist for the predecessor units Nthep (talk) 17:08, 24 December 2008 (UTC)
Cleanup
[edit]does this article require a cleanup? Now that separate articles exist for the predecessor units, should this article be reduced to just the period of existence of the Staffordshire Regiment? Nthep (talk) 20:10, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
- I've removed all the sections relating to pre 1959 as there are separate articles for the North Staffs & South Staffs regiments to which the deleted sections belong NtheP (talk) 21:48, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
The major problem with this page is that there has NEVER been a cap badge as shown at top right. The 1st issue collar badge of the regiment was very similar but the actual form of the knot on this page is wrong. Unfortunately the web page of the regimental museum also shows the wrong design and though notified of the error no correction has been. This is an insult to everyone who ever served with the regiment. 1959-1970 the regiment wore the Mercian Bde cap badge. 1970-2007 the regiment wore the new regimental badge which was the Stafford Knot surmounted by the Prince of Wales's plumes.
- I have removed a list of Victoria Cross recipients relating to pre-1959. As mentioned above there are separate articles for the North Staffs & South Staffs regiments where such matters can be included if properly cited (unless they are pre-1881 in which case such matters can be included in the articles on the pre-1881 regiments if properly cited).
