Is there any evidence of this name? Second Air Force groups, the 455th, 456th, 458th, 459th, 460th, 461st, 465th, 466th, and 467th Bombardment Groups, were all there between 31 August and 25 November 1943. None is listed in Maurer, Maurer, ed. (1983) [1961]. Air Force Combat Units of World War II(PDF) (reprint ed.). Washington, DC: Office of Air Force History. ISBN0-912799-02-1. LCCN61060979. as being stationed at "Kearns Army Air Field." Adjutant General station lists of 1 June 1943 and 15 March 1944 do not reflect this name. I wonder if the 1 October 1943 date for "Army Air Field" is not a typographical error for "Army Air Base". This document, which indicates a transfer to Second Air Force on 1 October 1943 uses "Base" [1]; and this one indicates a 1 January 1944 renaming from "Base" to Camp Kearns. [2] Only histories of the 456th group mention "Field" in the station name. --Lineagegeek (talk) 21:45, 29 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
