Map of Siouxland
[edit]The original hand-drawn map was published as an endpaper in a book. Unfortunately, the text was white on a pale green background, which did not lend itself to great reproduction. I scanned the image, saved it in black and white, and reversed the colors. The original, full-sized image (as scanned) is very readable, but the thumbnail version is only adequate. Please click on the (admittedly large) thumbnail image to access the original full-sized image. PlaysInPeoria (talk) 02:44, 1 March 2009 (UTC)
Pronunciation of Norfork, Nebraska
[edit]In toponymy, the correct pronunciation of any place name is that commonly used by the residents of that place. PlaysInPeoria (talk) 23:08, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
- I think "preferred" would be a better term than "correct" when discussing toponymic pronunciation, but in any case, I'm a native of northeast Nebraska and have heard Norfolk pronounced by natives both ways ("Nor-fork" and "Nor-folk" or "Nor-foke" if you will). Since this pronunciation issue really isn't germane to the article, and the citation given doesn't really support the claim that "Nor-folk" is "incorrect," I'm going to prune it.
