Article title: proposed move to usual English language name
[edit]See Category_talk:Semien_Mountains#Contested deletion. We currently have Semien Mountains categorised in Category:Simien Mountains (a recently created category). If someone wants to propose a move to Simien Mountains, please do so. Otherwise, let's categorise this article and related articles in Category:Semien Mountains and be consistent.--Mhockey (talk) 22:05, 16 April 2021 (UTC)
- If you examine most of the citations in this article you will see that most of the English language ones use Simien rather than Semien for these mountains.
- Semien really only comes about since it is the more usual transliteration from local languages such as Amharic.
- I would have moved the article myself a long time ago but I don't have the necessary privileges. BushelCandle (talk) 01:06, 17 April 2021 (UTC)

Among the key species we focus on is one of the world's rarest canids, the Ethiopian wolf. Also known as the Simien fox or Simien jackal, this highland wolf numbers no more than 440, and perhaps as few as 360, making it Africa's most endangered carnivore. Although scientists debate which canids are wolf species versus subspecies, the traditional view is that there are three wolf species in the world — the Ethiopian, red, and grey wolf. The Ethiopian wolf is the only wolf species native to Africa and is found in only seven Ethiopian mountain ranges, with the largest populations in the Bale Mountains and the second largest in the Simien Mountains.

Semien Mountains → Simien Mountains – Because Simien (spelt with an "i") is the name in English (as opposed to the spelling transliterated from the Amharic script) as in Simien Mountains National Park BushelCandle (talk) 08:27, 17 April 2021 (UTC)
