[edit]Why mention the kuomintang's reaction(seeing how they aren't in power anymore), and not that of Taiwan's current government?
crew
[edit]Just a note that I have already created an article for all the Chinese astronauts that have been named so far and they can be found in Category:Chinese astronauts. Please make sure when the crew for this mission are named that new articles aren't created at different spellings. Evil Monkey∴Hello 00:59, 16 September 2005 (UTC)
Chinese characters
[edit]While I think Chinese characters look good in an article myself, is it in conformity with Wikipedia policy to have that many on an English article...especially for common nouns and individuals (e.g. Yang Liwei) who already have a Wiki article? Thanks --Dpr 02:46, 7 October 2005 (UTC)
- My POV: I think it makes sense for chinese characters since there are a lot of various spellings and so this will cut down on the confusion there. Not sure what teh policy is though. MPS 21:01, 18 October 2005 (UTC)
Live Webcast
[edit]If anyone knows of any live webcast of this launch, it would be great if he/she could submit that info here.
- You can watch China Central Television if you have a satellite receiver, or you can watch its webcast at mms://live.cctv.com/live1/2/3 or something, or you can download a copy of PPLive at www.pplive.com, which is a P2P video streaming software. Yaohua2000 23:52, 11 October 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks! :) When will it launch?
- The pick seems to sometime around 01:00 UTC - which is less than an hour away. Evil Monkey∴Hello 00:11, 12 October 2005 (UTC)
- Read the article. Yaohua2000 00:12, 12 October 2005 (UTC)
- The pick seems to sometime around 01:00 UTC - which is less than an hour away. Evil Monkey∴Hello 00:11, 12 October 2005 (UTC)
- I do not understand chinese. I am watching the webcast and wonder what is going to happen. Will they talk about the rocket and the people that is there and then in 01:00 UTC show the launch?
- There is problem connecting to mms://live.cctv.com/live1/2/3 from europe/US. Are there any mirrors of CCTV webcasting from europe or USA?
- The url is not "live1/2/3", it is "live1" or "live2" or "live3", live3 is the English channel. Download a copy of PPLive, which is a P2P live video streaming software, and choose the channel CCTV-News. Yaohua2000 00:55, 12 October 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks! :) When will it launch?
Clips and movies from the mission
[edit]I live in eurpoe and has not seen anything from Shenzhou 6. From what I have heard on CNN, and other sources, chinese tv has shown quite a bit from the mission during these five days. If anyone from china knows if there are any webpages on the internet with movies and clips, etc, that has been shown in china, I would appreciate if he/she could provide a link for it. OR it would be really appreciated if he/she could put it in a .torrent on www.piratebay.org. I guess the chinese media only wants it distributed anyways, and I really want to see more of Schenzou 6. :) Thanks!
- This the launch (353MB, torrent): http://nnv.dl1.btchina.net/download.php?s=7869f3c94af12b46&attachmentid=549432
- This this part 1 of the CCTV live program from (Oct 11 22:00 - Oct 12 11:55, 1072MB, torrent): http://nnv.dl1.btchina.net/download.php?s=b1f93c22784a0268&attachmentid=551243
- I am sorry, I get "404 file not found"-error on those URLs, could you please check that they are correct. I would really appreciate it, thanks!
- I wrote the last post about the 404. I solved the problem by visiting www.btchina.net and searching for "神舟六", which I do not know what it means, but I guess Shenzhou since its from wikipedia; and then I found those torrents. Thanks! :D
Tracking Ships
[edit]The article currently states "Tracking ships will probably be used to compensate for this loss." Does anyone know how the ended up solving the tracking problem? I didn't watch the live feed, so I don't know if they might have mentioned anything about it. However, it seems to me that, since the mission has actually launched, we should replace the speculation with some definite information if we can get it. Joshua Nicholson 00:57, 13 October 2005 (UTC)

Image of Shenzhou 6
[edit]Someone has uploaded an image supposedly showing showing Shenzhou 6 from Beijing. I would like to know if anyone else can see the spacecraft; is it the faint white streak?
- Without knowing exact imaging parameters (for us, readers, not for the author of this image) it could be also just some other satellite. --Bricktop 17:02, 15 October 2005 (UTC)
Taikonaut?
[edit]Should chinese astronauts be refered to as taikonauts on this article?
- If it's a widely accepted word, I presume it should be used. --Andylkl (talk) 10:34, 16 October 2005 (UTC)
- Personally, I dislike the term immensely. Both astronaut and cosmonaut have "nice" etymologies, whereas taikonaut is an invented term from 1998. But now unfortunately, the Xinhua News Agency have adopted the term in their English translations, over astronaut as they used to. Perhaps the article could be written such that astronaut/taikonaut doesn't even appear in the prose ;-). Evil Monkey∴Hello 02:26, 17 October 2005 (UTC)
- I would disagree that 1998 was the year the word was invented, in the book 2010:_Odyssey_Two released in 1982 the word taikonaut was used repeatedly. I would also like to see how the article could be rewritten without invoking either word, I would predict that would be quite a feat to achieve without degrading the articles readability --BerserkerBen 23:02, 4 November 2005 (UTC)
- I believe that "taikonaut" IS the OFFICIAL designation for Chinese spacemen. After all, Russians refer to their spacemen as "cosmonauts", and I respect that as well. I only think it would be fair if the official term be used.
- Also, I've had to edit a lot of content where I subsituted "taikonaut" for "astronaut". BiggKwell 00:19, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
Blurry insignia
[edit]Can anyone find a clearer version of the mission insignia in the infobox? --Andylkl (talk) 10:34, 16 October 2005 (UTC)
- So far this is the best picture available. This is a cropped version taken from a photo of the astronauts in their space suits. http://www.spacepatches.nl/ has black & white image taken from Sin Tao newspaper that shows a variation on the patch, that isn't quite right (the English wording along the bottom is incorrect). We might just have to wait for the space suits to go on display for a clearer version to appear. Evil Monkey∴Hello 02:24, 17 October 2005 (UTC)
Intereasting image.
[edit]might be intereasted in this image.
Bawolff 17:08, 17 October 2005 (UTC)
Agreed. Maybe that should be used in the Shenzhou main page, only listed as "proported", since I doubt we'll ever see an offical photo. BiggKwell 00:22, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Shenzhou6training.jpg
[edit]Image:Shenzhou6training.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 16:05, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
Following the questionable landings of both Shenzhou 2 and Shenzhou 5, an unofficial controversy was started after diffusion of official images of the upper part of the capsule presenting a large and mysterious 20 cm diameter hole. [1]
you gotta give a better source than a picture of the lander with a dent in it, or does this fall along the same line as the americans didn't land on the moon
