It would be great if the opening paragraph better described the types of sensors SensorML deals with. It implies sensors with particular geographical locations, but doesn't really say so.
Since there are so many, many types of sensors it would be useful to be clear here. For example, I'm looking for industrial sensors and an XML standard and happened upon this article. It took a bit of reading to figure out that this standard does not apply.

Actually, while it may not be obvious from the current descriptions and while the focus has often been on sensors where geospatial information is important, SensorML is very applicable to any type of sensor, including industrial sensors. SensorML is essentially a framework for describing any sensor, as well as any process associated with measurement and post-measurement product generation. -- mike.botts@uah.edu
