In 2020, I arrive and also think this should probably be merged, perhaps to Steam frigate or to Sloop-of-war#Decline (which gives a little context perhaps worth consulting before jumping along its link to Steam frigate). Wherever it does link, the term screw sloop should appear in bold in the lede, and perhaps statement above that "'screw sloop' links to here". There are currently 198 inbound links to this article. I will post notice of this informal merger proposal at Talk:Steam frigate and Talk:Sloop-of-war, but am not immediately setting up a formal wp:merge, anyone else could do so though. --Doncram (talk) 22:05, 3 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Steam frigate would not be a good target. Steam frigate should really be about frigates with steam power, cf. the Frigate classification paragraph. That article has already lost cohesion by redirecting steam corvette and steam sloop to it. It now mentions HNLMS Bonaire as a steam frigate, but this is a tiny vessel, not even a corvette or a sloop, but only a gunvessel. It would be better to first create a steam corvette page for the biggest open gun deck steam ships with full broadside, and move everything that is not about steam frigates to this new steam corvette page.Grieg2 (talk) 06:56, 4 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
