Article on Sarah Lee Guthrie
[edit]I have created a seperate article for Sarah Lee Guthrie so that personal information on the artist can be separated from the group she is a member of. In case of Sarah Lee Guthrie being part of the Guthrie family there is more reason to do so. I do not mind keeping some extra information in the group article, but a the link to her article has to be maintained. Inwind (talk) 07:29, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
- Starting another article on Sarah Lee is fine. You can do some research to add to it. I specifically did research for the Sarah Lee and Johnny article and think the information I placed there is appropriate and relevant since the article should contain biographical information. - I see the separate article on Sarah Lee Guthrie has been deleted on account of being too similar to this one. I guess that makes sense in theory, but it seems they are both emphasising their independent careers (they both have solo websites and tour separately, while having abandoned their common website at sarahleeandjohnny.com).
- Furthermore they both have individual discographies, and Johnny Irion has many recent solo albums and collaborations with other artists that are not currently listed.
- It seems to me two separate articles might make more sense than insisting on a joined one. 188.217.52.227 (talk) 14:56, 19 February 2023 (UTC)
Yes, there should be a separate article for Sarah Lee. This page should be renamed “Sarah Lee and Johnnie” and cover only their professional work together, including discography. Will Wikipedia not allow that? Even if you delete most of the personal information relating to each of them from this article? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.92.228.87 (talk) 22:42, 11 September 2023 (UTC)
uncle and grand-uncle
[edit]How can his grand-uncle be the father of his uncle? If John Steinbeck is his grand-uncle then Thomas Steinbeck this man's father's cousin meaning Thomas Steinbeck is his first cousin once removed. (Lenerd (talk) 03:41, 20 February 2010 (UTC))
- The article clearly states that Thomas Steinbeck is Johnny's uncle. I understand how you conclude the cousin status of Thomas, but the common approach is to work backwards from the person about whom we are talking.
In that case, the father of his uncle Thomas is his grand-uncle. (I don't know what else you might call him unless it is "great-uncle", but I am not sure about that, either).74.226.90.3 (talk) 19:05, 18 December 2012 (UTC)
Origin?
[edit]The "Origin", in the infobox, is listed as South Carolina, USA.
I'm doubtful about the accuracy of this because it seems only to have been deduced from the birthplace of Johnny Irion, Columbia SC.
Sarah Lee Guthrie was born in Massachusetts, as the article states), and the two met in California (as the article states), and because (according to the artists' Facebook pages) they now live in Washington, Massachusetts near her parent's home.
So, I believe that the Origin infobox entry should be California (where they met) or Massachusetts (where they live). But I am not sure which is appropriate and welcome the opinions of others about this. The only thing I am certain about is that it should not be South Carolina.74.226.90.3 (talk) 18:58, 18 December 2012 (UTC)
- I've changed the entry to California as a step in the right direction. Of course it may become Massachussetts. 74.226.90.3 (talk) 05:03, 28 December 2012 (UTC)
- According to Wikipedia guidelines, Origin is not where they met or where they live but is defined as: "The city from which the singer or group originated (that is, the city where the group was founded; or the city where individual performers started their career, should it not match the location of their birth). If the city is not known, specify at least the country. Do not add a flag icon." It's possible that their career began in South Carolina. Jeff Tweedy
[edit]The paragraph about Wassaic Way seems to be more about Jeff Tweedy than about Sarah & Johnny. Can that paragraph be rephrased better? NewkirkPlaza (talk) 01:27, 29 February 2016 (UTC)
