Contested deletion

[edit]

This page should not be speedily deleted because I think that because of the good deeds Saman did, I think that he deserves his own wikipedia page. --Globgogabgalab33321 (talk) 11:13, 15 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed the CSD template and restored the redirect. As a page that was merged as a result of a deletion discussion, this article should not be re-created without first establishing consensus. If you think the closure of the previous discussion was improper, requests for review should be made at Wikipedia:Deletion review. --Paul_012 (talk) 13:03, 15 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Notability

[edit]

Well, the last AfD discussion was six years ago in 2018. At that time, his notability was unclear, but now he is being recognized as a "national hero." His statue has been erected in his town, and a memorial hall has been established—clear signs of his notability. He was awarded the Knight Grand Cross (First Class) of the Order of the White Elephant by the King, which is not the third class that is typically given to minister-level individuals. The first class is rarely awarded and is reserved for individuals at the state level. So, he clearly passes WP:ANYBIO (and if you disagree, WP:ANYBIO should be abolished). The Order of the White Elephant is not a joke and the dream of many Thais; it's a prestigious honor similar to India's Padma Vibhushan. Moreover, he is the subject of a film, and many significant, reliable sources have independently featured him. He easily meets WP:GNG and WP:BASIC, even if WP:ANYBIO isn’t considered. You are not in charge of English Wikipedia. If you disagree, feel free to nominate the article for deletion. The last AfD lacked interest from Thai-speaking editors because there are very few, but now you can't manipulate AfD results as you please. I would like to ping @Paul 012: for more knowledge. Thanks.
