Horses vs Tanks

[edit]

"During the action French Cavalry on horseback faced German tanks", says the section about the German attack of 1904. This sounds like one of those heroic urban legends. The few pages that mention this on the internet tend not to have sources, e.g. this page. Osprey's "The Fall of France: Act with Daring", ISBN 9781855329690, has a couple of pages on the battle, and quotes from Rommel's memoirs, but there is no mention of cavalry attacks on tanks. -Ashley Pomeroy (talk) 15:55, 18 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed, (though 1940 not 1904!). The French 2nd Division Light Cavalry were part of the Allied force[1], and Rommel's Panzers were victorious, but it would be good to have the Horses vs Tanks claim verified. I'll flag this for now and see if I can find a reference. KenBailey (talk) 08:59, 29 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
