Requested move

[edit]

SIG GSRSIG Sauer GSR — The SIG Sauer P220, SIG Sauer P226, SIG Sauer P230, SIG Sauer P238 and SIG Sauer P239 are all "SIG Sauer", not "SIG". Consistency is good. The pistol is being sold by SIG Sauer now. This is especially important on this article, since the GSR was designed primarily for the American market. Move proposal

[edit]

"SIG Sauer GSR" → "SIG Sauer 1911" — SIG Sauer changed the name from "GSR" to "1911" at some point, not entirely sure when, but I believe it would be worth changing the name to reflect this. RadiculousJ (talk) 21:15, 27 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Large scale update is needed

[edit]

Sig Sauer, Inc. has become one of the most successful providers of 1911 style handguns. Their first models were put together from parts made by other companies that supplied the 1911 industry. Now Sig Sauer builds quite a few models of 1911 handguns in calibers from .380 ACP up to 10mm S&W. There are now 22 models in the 1911 style. Sig Sauer also includes one model of the P238 since that is a 1911 style ultra-compact. I am about to add all this date to the 1911 page along with some reviews. There are very few photographs of the 1911 handguns which are in the public domain as of now. I hope to find or make some soon.

I'm not going to be able to finish this for several days as there is a huge amount of work that can be done to flesh out the details. Digitallymade (talk) 17:50, 11 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I removed a large amount of content which was either unsourced or not supported by the sources provided. Preserving here. Pinging Digitallymade who added most of this, perhaps they can help provide sourcing. –dlthewave 23:10, 22 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

design differences section should be updated or deleted

[edit]

The section about differences between this gun and the 1911 discuss nothing of the sort, and only contains a sniper of history on why the 1911 exists. 76.166.217.70 (talk) 10:02, 25 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
