Possible plateway to Wynne Hall foundry
[edit]Remnants of the Wynne Hall foundry remained standing into the 1960s, in particular a substantial stone arch and abutments for a water wheel, fed by a leat and duct adjacent to Foundry House (which housed an engine which had replaced water power). The outfall of the wheel passed under a small bridge, and my understanding (although I cannot remember my sources) is that that together with other bridges and embankments leading Southwards were the remains of some form of plateway supporting not just the foundry but eventually the quarries plus a small amount of coal working in the area now known as "Rocky Woods". I don't know whether there was any connection with the larger industrial area at Copperas, which was later served by the Ruabon Brook Tramway. MarkMLl (talk) 08:20, 14 October 2024 (UTC)
