[edit]The article is very unclear with respect to the linkage of Roosevelt Roads to Vieques. Roosevelt Roads was primarily a support base for Vieques but also was used for sub training and counter-drug activities. The article implies that the Government of Puerto Rico supported the closure of Roosevelt Roads when in fact, the Governor of Puerto Rico lobbied to keep the base open as the closing of the base would have a significant economic impact.Puerto Rico Herald 2003 Article
You didn't sign your comment but that whole article makes reference to having no need for the Naval Station if Vieques was closed and it says the Governor is referenced saying "Calderon has never taken the linkage seriously. Instead, she has dismissed federal statements on the issue as bluffs and said she would "not be intimidated."" Simstick (talk) 17:08, 15 July 2015 (UTC)
- that quote has to do with Calderon wrongly thinking that that the US government was "bluffing." There is not doubt from the cited sources that the government of Puerto Rico was active lobbying to keep the base open. They did not realize the blowback and retaliation for Puerto Rico forcing closure of Vieques.Explainador (talk) 02:34, 28 March 2017 (UTC)
Airport
[edit]Has the airport been re-opened as "Jose Aponte De La Torre Airport", or is that a new airport somewhere nearby? Ptomblin (talk) 14:26, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
It is pretty much an airport in name only. There are no navaids and no services. There are also no instrument procedures. It's a shame for an 11000 x 150 ft. runway at sea level to be sitting idle. I hope they can get it into some sort of civil operation soon. Look here. [1] --Traumatic (talk) 22:46, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
2002 C130 crash
[edit]The 2002 C-130 crash in Caguas, was not a Puerto Rico ANG (PRANG)C-130, and the crew was not a PRANG crew, please fix the article. It wa s Special Operations C=-130 from the states.

Notable people associated with the base
[edit]With the passing of Cdr Dalton Kuder USN (Ret) a longtime flight instructor at the flying club and sailing instructor at the marina I was considering a section under "Life on Roosevelt Roads" for notable people and personalities associated with the base that may not be well represented on other pages but who are well known enough to warrant mention. Input would be greatly appreciated before I put a lot of time into it to find it absolutely would not meed any Wikipedia standard. Thanks. 21:25, 23 February 2013 (UTC)
