Use of middle name in Roland Grossenbacher biography
[edit]Roland Grossenbacher is the head of the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property and an employee of this Institute asked me here to remove his middle name from the article, apparently upon request of Mr. Grossenbacher, although a source is provided. Should the middle name stay there or not? Is there some kind of right for privacy regarding middle names? What do you think? --Edcolins (talk) 18:35, 4 March 2010 (UTC)
- From that comment, it seems like the main basis for the objection is that the middle name was wrongly spelled "Edouart" rather than "Edouard". The correct middle name should be given, and it is now.
- As far as providing the middle name at all, it should be included. See WP:MOSBIO. "While the article title should generally be the name by which the subject is most commonly known, the subject's full name should be given in the lead paragraph, if known." In this case, the subject's full name is a matter of public record; there is no privacy matter at interest here. The subject's preferences, absent some special basis like a privacy concern, really don't enter into it. TJRC (talk) 19:10, 4 March 2010 (UTC)
